Ken,

I'm not sure if I'd reveal it is a free teleseminar but instead offer it as a gift, something you are doing for them "because" then share a really good reason.

"While I normally charge $99 for these types of seminars, I was able to get Steve to invest the time because many on my house list are not getting the returns they deserve."

... Or ...

"Okay, I normally charge $99 for this type of event, but when Steve and I were talking about all the mistakes people were making in 2005, it would have been a disservice to those on my house list NOT to invite you."

After you've established why you are letting them in on this call "no-charge" you take it away, to build scarcity. I like what Jay Abraham does, "Unfortunately, these isn't room for everyone so please act right now. This message was sent to 1,200 people, that means that 900 won't be able to attend because only 300 lines are available on my conferencing service."

I like "no-cost" and "no-charge" instead of "FREE" because you can get free stock market advice anywhere -- MSNBC, CNN, and many other channels shovel that crap out everyday. You are asking your house list to invest their time -- which isn't free -- and want them to buy something, so even saying it's "no-charge" may attract the wrong listener.

If you could further prepare attendees to buy with "Your time is valuable, and if you're not serious about pulling stronger returns from your stock investments this year (and into 2007) then don't attend this call. You'll just be taking up space, preventing someone else from receiving these valuable insights."

Nix the whole thing about getting the MP3, tell them after the event has happened with a follow up e-mail -- "Many upset readers made a stink about not being able to be on the call. I understand people are busy, so I went back to my private recording of the call and am going to make excerpts available to those who missed the call." (Almost say, "It's a shame you didn't show up for the main course, but here are some left overs." -- of course, add to the end of the resource a reason not to miss out again and to take action on your offer.)

Before the event make them feel they are going to miss something big if they don't take action and sign up. "I hope to see you this coming Tuesday, Sept 12th at 8pm EST; if there is room, so I'll encourage you to sign up right away, I can't guarantee I'll have time to make the call available to those who miss it."

Instead of sending them to the Stock Trading Success System: Prelaunch and Preview Center -- how about a separate landing page that reintroduces the event and get's a sign-up. All the video on your main page slows down the contact, plus I had to search for some type of form.

I think the letter "as-is" will sign-up attendees, but it's new subscribers you really want. Why not prepare them to purchase by making this event more exclusive, or place more emphasis on missing out if they don't take action?

"Look, I'd like to tell you this call won't cost you anything -- the truth is, NOT attending this call will cost you everything. I see investors make so many mistakes that drain their portfolios of valuable growth. Without the right tools and the insights we'll share in this invitation-only telephone conference call -- you are losing out the returns you deserve. I'm investing in this call because you've invested time with me -- however, there is a strict limit of 300 lines so you must act now and register today."

Almost get them to say, "I've got my credit card in hand, must attend this event, I'll lose money and make mistakes if I don't ..." then be pleasantly surprised at the landing page when it doesn't ask for a credit card. That way they feel like they got something (everyone has free teleseminars), plus will be more inclined to purchase end of call.

I want to hear how this call goes. I'm getting ready to expand my telephone conference calls with sales and marketing managers -- big vendors offer free calls daily, so I have to sell them on investing 60 minutes on a call with me.

Gee Ken,

All the good comments have been made by Dale and Justin. I've got no choice but to get downright picky now.

Two things ...

"+ Join Steve Nison and I Next Tuesday," should say "Join Steve Nison and me ..."

And the next ...

Your first line reads "Have you registered for next week's teleseminar yet?" If I were on your list, I'd have to ask myself, "don't YOU know?" I would think your list members expect you to know these things. So let's do this (and add a little urgency while we're at it) ...

This is urgent! (or) Time is running out! Why haven't you registered for next week's teleseminar yet?

Other than that Ken, it looks like you're good to go.

Justin, you're severly underestimating the word "FREE." That word still has some major, major horsepower behind it.

Millions of people tune in daily for that FREE crap! That's why the cable networks keep shoveling it out, because viewers keep tuning in!

Like it or not, the word "FREE" still works!

And in the final analysis, that's really all that matters!

hey thanks all - great tips... one thing I picked up from someone's email (forgot who), is to spell FREE, the way: FREEE with 3 e's to avoid spam filters..

I've also seen it spelled these ways, to avoid filters:

f/ree

f.ree

f-r-e-e

and agree, FREE, like NEW, are always great words to use in copy...

positioning it correctly should help avoid the perception of free not being worthwhile, eg with the (Retail Value $99) type embedded hook..

I appreciate the other tips too, thanks -- I'll work those into the follow up email sequence... many thanks..

Just want to tell you that it is obvious...
