Default Video testimonials -- how to improve? - 07-06-2004, 12:42 PM

Hi, I just did some video editing w/backgrounds (the lighting wasn't quite right, so forgive the edging around their pictures) for testimonials for my latest seminar...

see them now at http://www.DaytradingU.com (bottom of page)

I had asked those giving testimonials to be as specific as possible, but they ended up being a bit vanilla anyways... any ideas on how to improve the process for next ones?

Ken,

I love the idea of video testimonials. We have known for a while that audio testimonials boost conversion so I am looking forward to hear how these do for you.

To make them more effective, I would recommend coaching them a bit before shooting the video. I know that you told them to "be specific", however, perhaps asking them before rolling the camera, what specifically they liked the best or what they feel the main benefit of your program was.

Also, as you already mentioned, the video editing with the backgrounds makes it look a bit weird. Personally I think just using your seminar location for the background would make the testimonials feel more "real" and credible.

Psychologically, your visitors will often link up in their minds that if part of your product or message gives a particular impression, then that impression is valid for the whole. So if your background is "fake" they may assume that the testimonial is fake as well.

But overall, I think they are super!

Eric
