Default This is killing me... (sales letter critique) - 02-12-2004, 08:31 PM

Hey All,

I've been reading this board for a few months now. This is my first post...and it's doozy.

Over the past 2 weeks I've driven 526 visitors to my Wholesale Search Profits Web site through Adwords and have 1 sale from that.

I know this sales letter converts because I've sold 187 copies (1219 visitors) in the past 16 days to my own lists.

Does my sales letter suck that bad?

- http://www.wholesalesearchprofits.com/google.html (this is an updated version I'm testing...old version is at http://www.wholesalesearchprofits.com/specialx.html )

Anything that sticks out that makes you think "Boy that sucks!" ?

Obviously my lists are more targeted than Google searchers...but this just doesn't seem right to me.

Any suggestions?

Thank you!

Karol Gajda

Hi, one thing I'd test is the media delivery mechanism.. eg the letter's adequate, but when I got to the 'delivered on cd", that hosed it for me...
I'd want to be able to download the videos and start seeing everything Now .. vs waiting 1-2 weeks ..

I'd split test a downloadable vs cd-rom version.

also black on all-yellow is too monotonous, I'd use white with occasional yellow or blue j-boxes.

and quantify that headline:

"Your Profits Can Become Legendary Once You Put the 23 Killer Secrets to Wholesale Buying I'm About to Reveal to You In the 'Flip It For Profit' Exclusive 55-page Special Report to Use for Quick and Easy Reselling Profits on Ebay(tm)...!"

(ok that's a 3 minute effort, but, you get the idea... )

make sense?

ken

Hi Ken,

Thanks for the input!

I'll test some new headlines...and I'll also test black on white instead of black on yellow for the sales letter.

The videos are over 150MB and I want to get away from digital downloads...so I don't want to test that at this point.

Thanks again!

Hi, sure thing ... ok here's a non bandwidth intensive idea, have preview video clips on your site, to build customer involvement ... see an example
at

http://www.daytradingu.com/daytradin...ing-online.htm (a 6-figure selling info-product) or my www.stockcoach.com site

or the advanced daytrading page.. (I also need to add them elsewhere in the site, it's on the to-do list)

hope that helps --

ken

Hi Ken,

Thanks again. That's a good idea.

I might twist it a little and ask for the optin to get a preview video clip so I can followup with interested prospects.

Hi Karol,

Great forum here isn't it?

I only looked at your old salesletter version that was having difficulty with Adwords. And before I make a comment or two, let me tell you this, I just tested Adwords on a page that I have, and it pulled a miserable 0.01% (one tenth of a percent), whereas the EXACT SAME PAGE is constantly pulling 8% with the same organic search results from Google, that's 80 times better!!! Go figure! With recommendations the same page is pulling even better than 8%.

You might be looking at a simple traffic problem here. I dropped Adwords.

With that in mind, I have a subtle observation that may or may not help.

Your headline:

"Who Else Wants To Know The Well-Guarded 'Secret' Methods For Finding REAL Wholesale Products That You Can Quickly & Easily Use To Make Huge Profits On eBay™?"

"Who Else Wants To Know" doesn't do it for me.

I would try a minor change:

"Discover The Well-Guarded 'Secret' Methods For Finding REAL Wholesale Products That You Can Quickly & Easily Use To Make Huge Profits On eBay™"

It seems clearer and easier to read this way to me - again, subtle change, and I honestly don't think it will help your Adwords CR%, but it might slightly help in other areas... worth testing in my opinion. Otherwise, I don't see anything wrong with your letter - in fact, I was just talking to a friend yesterday about this subject, and now your letter came up, who knows maybe I'll get it...

I hope this helps,

Tim

Hey Tim,

Awesome...thanks for the post.

I'm currently testing the headlines that are up there right now and I'm going to start split testing as soon as I get this split testing script going. Actually, I'm gonna go work on that right now.

I've paused my Adwords ads for now. I've e-mailed quite a few people about this and the consenus is that some markets are just difficult on Adwords. I know there's gotta be a way to make it work though so I'm not gonna give up with it.

Thanks again!
Karol
