Default Top Secret MegaSeminar.com Video script copy critique? - 05-31-2005, 02:51 PM

Here's my latest pitch, a "Top Secret" for speakers only video... also communicates sales benefits/advantages of event to all the folks who are considering attending... any feedback/comments on the scripting?

http://www.megaseminar.com/topsecret.htm

Note too, I've deleted the 'so easy my wife could do it' video bits per suggestions earlier, on the front video at megaseminar.com ... thx for that, agree. I value what all of you say, and I take action on it, and sincerely appreciate your candid comments, it helps me improve things... and I can answer any questions you might have too, re copy questions...

thanks much,

ken

Hi Ken,

It might just be me, but I find that you speak really quickly and my brain has trouble keeping up! For me to absorb more of what you're saying, I'd need it slowed down a bit. Might be worth asking if anyone else feels that way.

HTH,
Jane

Hi Jane, thanks -- you're right... I need to slow down, I hear it all the time... problem is, I'm in Colorado, just moved here last yr from Hawaii, and the thin mtn air leaves me short of breath, so I find myself rushing to get all the words out, before gulping more air... I've gotta fix that somehow.. maybe an oxygen tank in the video studio (seriously!), would be of help... to put more mix in the ambient air..

And also, speaking of "non long copy letter" format sites, I'm launching a new corporate look one... I'll let you know how it converts... I remember what you said in earlier posts..

the initial early part of it's at:

http://www.sitefomercials.com

much more to come... it will definitely Not have any long copy elements in it, it'll be a corporate ad-agency type look ... I'm going to delete/change the too-big flash buttons at top ... at least the logo is spot-on.. :P

Projects will be $10K-$30K, target market.

ken

(P.S. copywriters/scriptwriters experienced in infomercial type scripting wanted... if you want referral work... email me to get in the resources list/area)

Hi Ken,

I saw something on TV recently where they were saying that politicians use pauses and speak slowly in a very deliberate way - presumably to get their message across more clearly. I also once attended a presenting workshop where we were taught about pauses and non-verbal communication as part of presenting. We were also taught about repetition, summaries etc.

I suppose the point is to use whatever works in transmitting your message.

Also, I thought 12 minutes was a little long.

But the subliminal message is quite clever (although transparent to me) - let us know how it works!

HTH,
Jane

Thanks -- great tips re deliberate pauses... that last bit, was 23 video clips, for the 12 minutes... I'll work for including pauses in future takes, appreciate it.. and summaries, good point , eg "tell them what you're going to tell them, tell them, then recap/tell them what you told them" ...

and right re the subliminals ... it's an interesting pitch angle ... got it from one of the books I've read out there... forgot which ... basic idea is to build exclusivity into the message, get prospect feeling like they're getting insider information, then using that opportunity to drive home advantages/benefits/USPs...

appreciate your thoughts, it helps..

ken

P.S. It's interesting to get emails/pms/read forum posts.. I think the approach is causing a lot of buzz/ripple out there in the industry. A lot of folks are feeling threatened, competition-wise. They should. I'm a relentless marketer... I love putting competitors out of business. Did it for years in the (very! competitive stock trading industry)... Especially by providing better solutions to market. my UCLA 4 1/2 years/grad made me competitive.. it's a highly competitive university... I never lost that edge, in fact I amplify on it out to large markets, and "dust" the marketers out there. fun to grab success, with help of happy customers.

main thing is, there's so much 'snake oil' out there, I like being an honest guy amidst the hype/bs... people resonate to that... and they trust me, and I work hard to overdeliver .... btw I can respect your being sensitive to that "look" in some long copy letters out there... understand where you're coming from... main thing is credibility/testimonials...

Hi Ken,

I think you pull off the low key, unassuming, no nonsense presentation really well. (Not that that you have to work at it)

The top secret strategy is also a good one from an indirect approach, although "top secret" title seems a little over the top for me. Its obvious the viewer will know its not top secret. I was thinking a title that is still directed toward the speakers, but will still have the viewer curious enough to click on the link. Still keeping with the low key approach.

I like the office setting as well. What if you actually had individual in the back ground looking as if they are really busy working, taking orders or something to that effect? Kind of like those telethons, but not too cheesy. They seem to add a little sense of urgency or at the very least some energy along with credibility in that you are well established. Just some ideas off the top.

Hope that helps,

Todd Tripp

Hi Todd, great points... and welcome to the board! I lived in Honolulu for 10 years, til last March (2004), moved here to Colorado Springs so I could get a 4000 sq ft house for $280K + better public schools ...

I read the www.honoluluadvertiser.com daily, wow 670K median prices is high, and that's not for a 4K sft house.. I lived in Hawaii Kai for many years, at the mount terrace condos .. great views..

I miss pearl's korean barbeque plate lunches at kahala, ono grinds..

Agree with your points, and thx re video... good point re people working in the background... I need to find more video talent for greenscreen shoots.

launching www.sitefomercials.com soon..

Ken

Joaquin,

Are you using some kind of translation application? I can't understand a word that you say - it's all greek to me!

Joaquin,

I would be delighted if I could get your verbiage translated to english - it would take the brainache out of reading your posts.

You seem to imply that I speak a different language to other english speakers, but I haven't noticed this problem myself - as far as I can tell, they understand me and I understand them.

Whose english? Spanglish?

"jeje" <- what is that?

Joaquim, it's not for the wont of trying, trust me. But most of what you write comes across as unintelligible gibberish and I find that I can't even get the vaguest gist of what you're saying. If you think I use language like this to impress, then you are mistaken because that's not my MO. I use language the way I do because that's just how I do it.
