Don't be quick to opt out of emails you get. Save them if they are at all compelling so you can learn from them. Email copy is a different art all in and of itself.
I have a couple of different gmail accounts set up just for this.
Besides, as you become successful as a copywriter, you're going to be spending a great deal of money on people's courses to continue your direct marketing education.
Getting the Schwab book was a good start. But if you really want to get a grip on what you're doing, you're going to have to get a mentor or a coach, one that likely charges some pretty hefty change ... but it should pay for itself.
