Contentious would be a NICE way of putting it! Every day is a hazing here. (That's why I love it here.) No one on the planet is harsher than a copywriter. I swore the copywriters at the first big agency I worked for ate their young. They not only ate their young, they dismembered their pets and kept their parents locked in basements. And that was the nicest of the lot.

Try hanging around bitter stand-up comics for a while. The stuff you see on the roasts is them on their best behavior.

Professional speakers aren't too far away.

Kev's got it. Just watch a roast. Friars club... or comedy central. They're brutal.

And kev can tell you stories when a comic would go on stage with stolen material... or even unfunny material, and other comics would heckle.

Well, I must have been in the lion's den because three of the copywriters at one of the agencies where I worked were stand up comedians. (I had done improv.) They did have a roast one week after I got there. Even I was shocked at what they said and did to the company owner. They even brought on stage the woman with whom he had been bonking and introduced her to his wife and daughter as the "hot home wrecker".
