According to one direct marketing insider, the WSJ letter is not one to swipe... it never performed that well. And the folks that owned the WSJ didn't care that it didn't perform that well. Michael, That's interesting, because I've heard that they split-tested the heck out of it, and never could beat the control... I know recently someone beating it by making it a little longer and adding some testimonials I think. Regardless, it's food for thought. You never really know the whole story unless you were there. It's not one I'd swipe though... I don't like writing copy like that. -Jason |

I'm sure Mr Subtle will be thrilled to tell you. From memory it involved mainly changing the formatting and the typeset of the letter so it was easier to read and the order form was more accessible. Kindest regards, Andrew Cavanagh |
