Default A Challenge For The Guru's - 06-01-2008, 11:28 PM

Alright everyone says that sales copy is the most valuable skill you can learn and that you could be thrown anywhere in the world and with the ability to write sales copy that sells - you could build yourself a fortune.

So I have a challenge for the gurus. If you were thrown into a different city, had your basic needs provided and had $50 left in your pocket. You were not allowed to contact any of your contacts and you needed to make $10,000 in the next 30 days or else a big Italian named Guido would blow your head off, how would you do it?

Yup!!!

Michel...

As you may remember you, I and several others were asked a similar question by Daniel Levis on the Boostrap Moneymakers calls.

You really ARE going to write an ebook, aren't you, LOL.

Saw your thread with the same question on the Warrior's Forum.

How many other forums did you hit, LOL!

(Guess Google might say...)

I hope maximus makes money on it. But as has been noted multiple times: knowing, and not doing, is not knowing.

Someone could take the info just from the 2 or 3 threads referenced and begin to make a very nice living in fairly short order.

Others will pay tens of thousands for the same thing, and still be no better off, no matter how much time they're given.

Prolly so, Andy -- but hindsight is usually 20:20.

(And I admit I haven't read the threads ... but I'll definitely get
back to them.)

It's not the bits of information that hold people up -- it's generally the gestalt; understanding the comprehensive whole.

Unfortunately, the missing piece seems to be different for everyone.

I have actually done this. Didn't make 10 grand but hit 7 the first time I did it.

It was Yellow Pages Wages Time-that magical period between May and November.

Here's what you do. You ring up the yellow pages and ask them when the next directory is up to bat. Right, they'll say the next one due to close in Bundywallop (made up name).

So you trot off to your local library and open the Bundywallop directory.

Then, you go through all the big ads that suck and call them with your prepared script "Hi your ad sucks can I write you another one"...click..."hi your ad sucks can I write you another one".

Make 50 calls and someone will say yes...which means you have 2 grand in the bank and you get to eat that day.

Make sure you call from an unemployment training facility. Ask them if you can use their phone to call for jobs because you are broke. We had these agencies in Australia 10 years ago, not sure if they are around now. If the directory is in another state or area code, only call businesses with FREE CALL numbers (don't worry theres heaps of businesses you can call for free or for the cost of a local call)

So if you're prepared to make between 300-400 calls in a month and write 5 to 7 YP ads then you will get close to $10,000.
