Cruiser -
Thanks for the good laugh. Is this something you actually did? Why not spend a few bucks and do a voice broadcast to your customers after hours. Also don't you first have to educate the customer on why their ad sucks, tips for improvement, etc before going in for the kill?

Maximus...I am new to this site and curiuos as to what response you will get.
There may be some Guru's who can actually go from Zero contacts to $10K per month in 30 days. I doubt you will find them at this site.
No offense is intended to this forum or any other forum of this nature. Why I doubt that you will find them here (forum staff excluded), is that the "Real Gurus" have already reached the top level on the learning curve (Conscious Competency), and have mailing lists in the thousands, 100's of thousands or more. So they have no personal need to be here. If they are prone to teach (share their knowledge) as most Gurus are, they are sharing it in ebooks, emails, at websites, and if we are really lucky...perhaps at this forum. I'll keep my fingers crossed-Grin.
Much Success,

He is very present here.
Other gurus pop in from time to time. Clayton Makepeace and others...obviously they are not here all day long...but they aren't strangers either.
So I disagree with your remark. | | | | | Expert

George...
You're not only wrong, you're dead wrong when you say they have no need for forums like this. How do you think the big marketers know what's on your mind?
They're here. They're always here. And this forum isn't even one of the huge ones when it comes to marketers. This place is obviously a place more suited for copywriting types.
The big marketers however... those ones you said with 100K+ lists, build them by talking to everyone... listening to everyone... and networking their asses off.
A big list isn't static. You don't build it then stop. Get your hundred thou. then cloister yourself and before you know it you'll have 10 thou. then 1 thou... then nothing. | | | | | Senior Member

@George: I think you vastly underestimate the number of people on this board that make AT LEAST that. | | | | | Expert

To be completely honest...
... everyone here is completely clueless when it comes to marketing.
And copywriting.
That's why none of us actually own a business.
Michael Fortin has had NO success and doesn't know what he's talking about.
Clayton Makepeace is running a rumor about being the highest paid copywriter (something about $200,000 per month), Ricky hasn't actually built the business he makes $50,000 per month from, and no one else here has ever made any money writing a word of copy.
Actually copywriting is a myth... it doesn't really work.
Sorry to put people out like this and expose the truth... but it had to be done. | | | | | Member

Tim | Hi Tim
Yeah this was back in 1997. I didn't actually ring from an unemployment office but if you only had $50 this is what you could do. The script was a bit more elegant than what I posted but it was the basic theme I used.
At the time I only had one book on marketing: Streetfighter Marketing by Jeff Slutsky that I got for $5 in a bargain basement bin. I had written ads before but had no marketing approach or strategy. I called myself a Yellow Pages specialist, had no website, just a physical address and an internet and phone connection.
I had never heard of voice broadcast and fax broadcasting was still in its infancy here.
Of course theres far better ways to tackle the problem these days but when you're 21, you're car has broken down and your girlfriend is sick of you having no money then you become resourceful real quick. | | | | | Senior Member

This is like walking into your rich neighbor's home and saying,
"I don't mean to offend you, but I don't think you are as successful as you would like me to believe. I mean you have nice furnishings, and a nice car, but surely this is bought with borrowed money.
I see you working in the garden, cleaning the pool, mowing the lawn, playing with the kids in the yard, cooking out on the grill, having pool parties - I never see you working!
Rich people would pay someone to do these things for them, and surely wouldn't be wasting their time doing leisure activities. Rich people would be busy writing books, conducting seminars, appearing on CNBC, and traveling the country on the speaking circuit."
Just saying. | | | | | New Member

I thought his tongue-in-cheek post would have coerced one or more of the board's Illuminati share a nugget or two... we will see. | | | | |
