Default Interactive salesletters - 04-14-2008, 03:58 PM

Whenever I read a salesletter selling some hot new
interactive feature like JavaScript stuff to make
the site "psychic" I always check out the websites
given in the tesimonials sections.

Know What?

I don't think I have ever seen one of these websites
that actually IMPLEMENT the interactive features the
testimonial-giver is raving about.

Sure - we all love a great idea. But its really implementation
that counts.

I'd like to see some real-world examples of interactive salesletters
that change on the fly - non-guru stuff. I'm not looking
for salesletters that are super-pro. I am wanting to see
what down-in-the-trenches marketers are doing with
interactive salesletters... meaning men and women that
aren't rich and famous and paying tech-guys big money to
do this stuff for them.

Because I have been looking... and looking.

Anybody know of any cool interactive letters that aren't
pointed at copywriters and internet marketers?

I would be interested in that as well. Looking for some quality sales letter ideas.

I'm testing interactivity on my site. You can check it out if you like. Chris Custer - Copywriting and Marketing Solutions

I got the script from Michel's blog. Just scroll down to the bottom of the letter and click the yellow link. It opens a longer letter.

But like I said, I'm still testing.

Hope it helps.

Chris

I haven't seen them much outside of IM either. But you have to remember most people aren't super eager to share their niche sites with other marketers (too easy to duplicate).

Also people split test so there is no guarantee you will see it.

My favorite is by the guy at mastering foreclosures dot com.

Anyway, Chris said he was testing it so if it increases his conversion rate, who cares if no one else uses it? As long as it works for him.

ok. thanks Chris. That's a cool way to do it. I don't know if I
would have noticed the "long salesletter" link in there if you hadn't
mentioned it here though.

If you guys haven't seen the Psyschic Salesletter software you can
download the Beta and watch the video at
Psychic SalesLetter - Download

Its pretty cool. Of course with any Whiz-Bang thing like this we
have to also do the unpleasant labor of thinking about how to
use it.

This is the all-too-frequent argument. I think the truth is that
building these things is a lot of work and almost nobody is actually
using this stuff... the technology keeps coming at us faster than
we can use it.

Is it a situation where the emperor has no clothes?

OKAY - if top copywriter-gurus are using this stuff it must have
appeared on some big product launches recently. Or has it?

It's only "faster" than you can use it if you try to use everything single thing that comes at you.

I agree that so many people will buy all these cool tools and never put them into action... the only thing you can do is make sure you are not one of those people.

Since you are interested in the interactive sales letter idea why not try that script on your site and tell us how it goes?

One of my sites (from 2005) is an interactive sales letter but to be quite honest I've never split tested it.

Don't trust the gurus... many of them don't know crap... just look at Joel Comm. (GotZip????)

Thanks for your reply Robert.

Care to share your interactive letter here?

I have one I created a while back that I send out whenever
network marketers try to recruit me into their downlines.

It works with a script and personalizes the salesletter with
the person's name. It can do more than that too, but here's a link
to see the simplest usage. I'll set it up for Robert, but it'll work with
any name you put on the tail-end of the link. I can mail lists with an autoresponder with this too - just adding the ~~firstname~~ tag at the end.

- A Modest Proposal

I think we both have different ideas of what an interactive salesletter is.

My idea of an interactive letter is this www dot salespagetactics dot com.

About 1/3rd of the way down the page, you can un-check the parts of the copy that don't apply to you so there's less to read.

It seems to me like you call any kind of scripting on a sales letter (like personalization) an "interactive sales letter."

No, I am just sharing something I have up and running that
has an involvement device - which as far as I am concerned
is what interactivity is all about anyway. Even a check
box on an online order form that say "YES, blah, blah" is
a form of interactivity.

I own the software for Java-Scripting interactive salesletters,
just haven't gone to the effort of wrangling my thoughts on
how to use it.

Thats why I want to see more examples of how this stuff is
being applied to grab attention and provide user-centered
information.

The only examples I have seen that come to mind are on
the ScribeJuice Salesletter and on the Copywriter's Toolkit...
and last time I checked neither of those had any EVIDENCE
that anybody who actually PAID for the product had done
anything with it.
