Default Where to Get Newspaper Type Paper for Direct Mail Piece... - 03-23-2005, 02:17 AM

Can anyone figure this one out? Ive racked my brains trying to find a source online. Id like to send out a direct mail piece however I want to make it real newsworthy by putting it on newspaper type paper...you know the light gray look and same feel?

Any tips?

Thank You!

Reza

Wherever you live, somewhere in your community there is a printer who prints the local newspaper(s) and tabloids. If you just need a small amount, they can probably give you extra paper that they would normally trash. If not, they can either sell you some or tell you who their supplier is.

When I was a kid, my uncle was the business manager of the Indianapolis Times. He heard that I liked to write and he not only gave me a couple of reams of 8 1/2 by 11 newsprint but gave me a tour of the newspaper plant. It was one of the thrills of my childhood.

I then proceeded to publish a Family Newspaper for about five years.

Who knows where your newsprint adventure will lead you?

If you don't find what you're looking for at a print shop, try an office supply store.

They won't have 'full folds', but can supply you with pads of the type of paper you're looking for in a smaller dimension. That kind of paper is called, 'newsprint'. They might not know it by name.

If you're mailing small, article-like pieces and attaching them to a larger piece, you'll increase your response if you cut the edges with a jagged scissor called pinking shears. No, I don't know why that works.

Also, you can sometimes get away with photo-copying a piece of 'goldenrod' (yellow orange color) paper. That will render the right color, sometimes. Then, write your article on the copied, now correctly colored piece of paper, then copy that.
