Seems to me that might be a demotion. After all, when was the last time you heard of a copywriter hiring a marketer to help them sell a product?
Of course, the term "marketer" is tossed around so casually anymore that it doesn't have the same impact it used to.
The best reason I've heard from a veteran copywriter on why they outsource: because it expands their weekly/monthly capacity to accept client projects. They may not make as much on the outsourced work as normal, but they are still making some nice monies for their trouble.
