Default Farewell - 03-17-2005, 04:12 AM

I am shipwrecked, beached, left high and dry in No-Money-Left Land.

For the last six months I haven't earned a penny while I built a full marketing campaign for a new wonder-product. And now, two months from launch, I've had to dissolve the partnership.

The details would bore you, so I won't... whatever...

I shall cut my losses. I won't mess around on the edge of Internet marketing with no money to invest. I have a family to feed. So I am returning to the quiet and lucrative backwaters of ghosting - and when I've floated my financial boat again there's a novel waiting patiently for me to write it.

Although I'm not in the habit of burning bridges, I'm fairly certain I shall never need to write advertising copy again. But I've learned a helluva lot here and that knowledge will never be wasted - whatever I'm working on.

Before I go I'd like to thank the members of this board.

Some of you are inspiring. I've never really talked with you, Peter, or you, Tim, but I want to say now that you are stars! It's rare to find people at the top of their game sharing deep knowledge and real-life experience so freely. Thank you, too, Eileen and JP. I'll miss your friendly help and advice.

Farewell.

David

Thank you, David, but there's no need to miss me when you can email, or phone me whenever you wish.

If it is the case that you need to devote all of your energies to 'turning this page', I understand and will miss your level headedness.

Take care and let us know what you're up to from time to time, please.

Best regards,
Peter

David,

Sorry to hear that your venture didn't work out. I wish you the best of luck with whatever is next.

I seriously doubt that... David -- once it's in your blood, you can't help yourself!

At any rate... the skills will no doubt carry over to whatever endeavor you put your mind to -- and you'll rise above all others. Copywriting is nothing more than salesmanship -- and you'll need that no matter where you go in life... whether to sell products, or to sell your ideas to co-workers or even a (gulp) boss.

I wish you AMAZING success... and welcome you back at any time you choose!

David - that took courage.

Thank you for the kind words. The feeling is mutual and I personally appreciate your voice here very much.

I am sorry to hear about your challenges (though I doubt they are boring), and I am sorry to see this farewell message. Farewell is a word I don't like, it sounds so darn final, and my first reaction was like a little kid - "but wait - you don't have to go..."

After all, this is a virtual place... meaning you can access it from virtually anywhere, while doing virtually anything, at virtually any moment in time, right?

But, like Peter said, if you need to turn this page to move forward, then so be it.

You have my sincere best wishes and I hope our paths cross again.

All the best,

Tim

Thank you, my friends. As you may imagine I'm in a somewhat dark and cold place at present, and your words have warmed my heart. Truly.

Let's say au revoir then.

David

PS. Don't worry JP - no (gulp) boss on my horizon.
