Default writing a sales letter. - 03-13-2005, 02:44 AM

I've been lurking around this forum from quite a while. I was trying to write a Sales letter for Newletter Subscription .... Now I have seen lots of Long copy vs Short copy threads(all over the Net) and well I m convinced about I need to write long Copy.
I have seen some of Ken Calhoun's copies... and they are awfully long ... seriously I think I m intimidated by length.

I dn't hav much idea how to go about it? How to decide if I should opt for Long Copy or Short copy? What If I can't end up with 40 page copy...

Though I am writing my sales letter which when finished I'll put up here for critique...

I'll appreciate any advices You folks give me..
thnx
Varun

Hi.

I don't know that you have to write a certain length of copy - "X" number of pages. Really, what you may want to consider is answering the questions in your prospect's mind, rather than something prescriptive.

Are you sellng subscriptions, or are they free?

Why should I subscribe?

Are you someone I should listen to?

What value is there, in this newsletter?

How would it 'help' me - how will my life be better if I subscribe?

Are you selling something?

What are my committments, here?

Can I trust you?

Varum

Have you ever told an amazingly exciting story to someone close? Did you keep on going until the story unravelled and was fully was told? All the details, all the names, all the people or things involved.

How did you feel at the end when the person you were telling the story to said "WOW, really, thats amazing!"

Think about it. That is the secret of writing a successful sales letter!
