Default Revisiting Some Old Advice...Or How to Get Started.... - 10-02-2007, 05:31 PM

Once upon a time, a long time ago, in a land where wishes still came true....

I got some great advice on maybe writing copy for affiliate programs to not only give myself experience, but to be able to measure it, and make myself some money to boot.

I was a little afraid of this advice simply because the word 'affiliate' scared me a bit. It seemed like a whole different ball of wax I wanted no part of. Now...I'm rethinking things. The more I learn, the more intriguing it seems.

Can someone point me in the right direction on recommended products, gurus, and some of the best ways on getting started?

Thanks, Everyone!

Nikki

Sure.

Go to ClickBank Marketplace - ClickBank and browse the categories you are interested in. Look in the top 20 results, below that will likely not be worth the effort.

Find a site with a lousy sales letter and rewrite the letter. Get your own domain, carefully choosing a good name, and put the page up with your affiliate link, linking directly to the purchase page, not the other sales page.

One tip I got from Marc Quarles is that the lower the refd: %, the worse the sales page is. It's not a 100% sure method, but a good indicator.

Thanks for the great advice!

Checking out the links now, Neb. It looks like a great start.

And thanks, Mr. Kyle...I did find the extensive article Michel wrote and it's fantastic.

One question I wonder about...if I'm writing my own sales copy, is it okay to use the testimonials from the existing sales copy for some of these products? Or is that crossing a line?

Neb, thanks for the tip on Marc Quarles.

His blog is great!

He has many helpful posts on the subject of Affiliate Marketing and Clickbank; for example:

Yep, he's a very nice guy. I've spoken with him a few times. We're supposed to have lunch this month as his office is a stone's throw from my house.

Very interesting.

So in the research I did tonight, it looks like the same product, Neb?

They both seem very similar, just slightly different approach in sales pitch, but unless I miss my guess it's the same product marketed two slightly different ways?

ProjectX vs. Day Job Killer

Great copy though. I found it interesting reading.

But the one thing that makes me nervous about affiliate marketing is that it seems to be the only thing that's tickled my interest that, dare I say, seems to be more hyped filled than a lot of copywriting I've seen.

Still, I can't knock solid advice. But it seems this will be a little harder than finding good, solid copywriting books and advice though.

That's what those guarantees are for though. So I'll probably give it a try.

They are done by the same guy, Chris McNeeny. DJK is the most recent product so that's the one I would buy.
