Default Bad Men - 09-27-2007, 04:21 PM

Has anybody caught the new TV show. I think it's called "Bad Men", a play on words for Add Men. Personally, I found it insulting. It casts all advertisers as liars and cheaters who do nothing but take advantage of people.

I think you're thinking of Mad Men. My husband seems to enjoy it, but I've never watched it.

Yes, that's it. I haven't sat all the way through the show, but I was pretty turned off by what I saw.

I've taped several recent episodes on payTV, but am yet to watch them!

I'm pretty sure it was mentioned in the Dan Kennedy/Bill Glazer newsletter as something worth watching.

John Carlton had a blog post about it a couple of weeks ago, so I sat my DVR to record them. It's starting to grow on me.

I just started watching it a few weeks before the reruns started, and I gotta say - I love it! I grew up around several copywriters from that era, and it really brings back fond memories. Not only that, but you've got to love the...um, research?...they put into their campaigns!

I think Mad Men is real cool. As a woman, I resent the way women were treated. But hey, those days are gone. I find the show fascinating and fun. Advertisers haven't really changed all that much. And ad people could learn a few things from some (not all) of the old ways used to sell. It's just that motivation triggers are more subtle today.
