Default Best Lists & Information Sources - 09-24-2007, 07:11 PM

I decided to add to this week's tasks for myself by trying to research lists and where I can get a reliable one.

Can anyone make any recommendations?

And as a side note, I'm considering a subscription to the (formerly) Who's Mailing What -- good idea?

And secondly, should I upgrade myself to Clayton's EasyWriters Marketing Club or is Total Package still the way for me to go in my still fairly newbie state?

Thanks, all!

Nikki

I'd say NO to both.

Even though I like Who's Mailing What, chances are you'll never be involved in any of these expensive cutting-edge mailings. If you've got KA-chingos comin' out your wahzoo then go ahead. It is a great read.

I believe Makepeace's newsletter is around $50 a month. For $200 (4 months worth of issues) you can buy 8 or so books on copywriting from Amazon. These will keep you busy for a year.

On top of that, the first 75 issues of The Total Package come to a whoppin' 745 pages! All for FREE.

And then there's 24 (or so) issues of Bencivenga's Bullets (FREE) which come to around 130 pages. You're gonna have to quit your day job to find the time to read and study all the above (3 times at least) during the next 12 months.

Mr. Subtle CAN be bought (from time to time):

I second Mr. Subtle's answers.

I'm an EasyWriters Club member and it's chock full of great content, but as a newbie you might be better off buying books and studying them.

Some issues deal with writing far more effective "bullets" and guarantees, etc. which you will definitely need to learn, but other issues might be a bit advanced for a newbie.

The cost is about $67 monthly.

If you go the book route, there's already threads on this forum that deal with what books are recommended.

And by all means, go through Clayton Makepeace's article archive on The Total Package website.

As Subtle states, Clayton has given away - FREE - tons of valuable (think profitable!) content.

And I'm as much in love with Bencivenga's Bullets as I am with Clayton's stuff. Arguably the two greatest writers alive today.

Here's links for both, if any newbies have never had the great fortune to grace either's site:

Excellent advice.
I'm glad I waited to purchase either one.

I'll comb through those newsletters and archives and study them like they deserve. It sounds like there's plenty there for me to try and master before I kick it up a notch.

Thanks for the links and quick references!
