THANK YOU!

To everyone who posts and feeds this board. I've been considering copywriting as a career for a long time. But then I stumbled across a good enough job, got a house, picked up some debt, and was kept just this side of satisfied that it fell off to the sidelines. A fleeting thought that nagged at me every once in awhile.

This week I got myself back.

A special thank you goes to Jay White, because now that his Catalog Copywriting site is up, it's what tapped me on the shoulder and said: Hey, I thought you wanted to be a copywriter? Why yes. Yes, I do.

Plus -- he's a real professional. He's been so responsive to me (nobody he knows in particular) and so helpful. I've written some other 'professionals' hawking their services...and gotten crude responses or no response at all to my questions. Considering they 'wrote' me first, I am still a bit amazed.

Unbelievable.

Fine by me though. One person lost a sale! Cause when he didn't answer me, I came back to this board. And found everything I needed to know and more.

Next, I have to thank all of you. Reading your posts prospecting, how to build a portfolio, and basically how you got started...

You saved me 500.00 and wasted time and money on Yet Another Copywriting Course. And why? To find out one tidbit of information buried in a bunch of other information I've seen before.

Plus, you guys and gals have reminded me of my greatest strength. My business acumen. I know I'm a decent writer. And I'm still learning. I'll always be learning.

But I've spent the past four years working as an account manager for a Fortune 50 technology company -- why did I ever wonder how on earth I could market myself with no copywriting experience? Maybe that job wasn't such a bad thing!

You showed me how I was selling myself short. BAD MISTAKE.

Today, rather than spending that 500.00 I was prepared to drop Monday of this week...I bought two books (for considerably less) that focuses on my current anxiety: Getting Clients, Keeping Them, And Building Them. You solved my other one as my weekend has also been spent cultivating my portfolio (spec ads).

I'm hoping now that I am focusing on the business side of things, my comfort zone, I finally can get off the ground.

Anyway, just wanted to let you guys know. I hope to have some questions and ideas to run past you soon.

Yay Nikki! Congratulations on coming to your senses. LOL, just kidding.

Copywriting is a terrific career, and there are ALWAYS other ways to apply it. Everything from writing an ad to sell some old stuff in the local newspaper up to writing Joint Venture emails & letters for your own products.
