Exclamation Need Advice From Someone W/Financial Expertise...Please? - 09-13-2007, 10:16 AM

Hello All.

I realize I haven't yet contributed much to this board, but I have learned much from the many experts here. Thank you!

I am hoping that someone with some financial expertise will be able to help me out here. I have been presented with an offer that I have never seen before, and I could use some sound advice. Here goes...

This morning, a past client of mine contacted me about a project. The project will entail about 40 hours of work, spread out over a six month period. Sounds pretty good so far, right? The only problem is, they want to pay me with stocks!

Ummm, what?!

Okay, I will freely admit I know absolutely NOTHING about the stock market. Nothing, nada, zilch. Is there anyone here who does?? All I know is that the stock "name" is WPNC (don't know if this will help you or not). I have no idea how to find out what (if anything) it's worth, or anything else out about it.

What would you do?

For many of you,I'm sure, the answer will be quite obvious. But as I have never been presented with an offer like this, I have no clue what to do. And I don't have an accountant to ask, either.

Help!!.....Please?

Go to Big Charts dot com or Yahoo Finance and enter the symbol and you'll get a lot of information about it. I'm a technical trader so I only look at charts and if you see their chart you'll have to laugh.

WPNC is trading at .0025 cents a share. In other words 2 shares of their stock would buy you 1 sheet of 20# white bond at Staples. Yesterday the trading volume on the stock was 154,500 shares... which seems like a lot. But, that's only a WHOPPIN' $386.25 in dollar volume.

This company's stock isn't even a penny stock... it's a micro-penny stock.

Thank you so much Mr. S! I know absolutely nothing about stocks, bonds, or anything else in that arena (hey, I'm a gal who can admit her weaknesses!); so their offer kind of threw me.

I appreciate the advice, and will let them know it's cash or nada! Thanks again!

NO KIDDING.

If I were them, I'd do some serious reverse splitting in a hurry!

For sure pass on that deal. It's a no brainer. I'd hesitate to even use the phrase "risk, reward" in defense of why I'd pass on the deal. It's that bad.

Regards,
Lance

I think I got the same offer you did...but maybe you misread it: they want a minimum of 50 pages of content each month for six months...and you have to wait one year before trading the stock.

Quote:
For developing 50 pages of SEO content per month, {company} will offer $2,000 per month in restricted stock (which may be traded one year after the date of issuance). After six months from the start date of your contract, you will have an option to of taking a cash payment of 50% of this ($6,000). The stock certificates must be returned if you opt for the cash payment.

No, I didn't misread it. I just didn't clarify in my original post. 40 hours of work per month, for the next six months.

The point was to decide whether or not the offer of stocks was worth the effort, instead of cash payment.

Thanks though.
