That is the ad (or a similar version of it) that he ran for years.
His Alexa rating spiked when he sent out an email to his list. That is when everyone would go to his website.
The offline ad is just a way to get traffic to the website to build your list. Once they get there it is up to you to build the relationship with your list to get that kind of a response.
I know he talked about running a large amount of newspaper ads, so I'm guessing the spike on Alexa was a combination of a few things at once.
I will let you know what kind of results I get from the offline ad. I have it running in 3 different papers for the test.
