Greetings folks,
I'm fairly new to this game, but picking things up fast
I started studying copywriting about 2 months ago, and
got some solid advice from John Hostler about becoming
a 6-figure copywriter in no time.
To make a long story short, he suggested coming onto
the market around $300... then working up the ladder
with the same clients and referrals until you're getting a
decent fee per letter.
Well, I skipped a couple of steps this weekend
At Ross Goldberg's Midwest IM Seminar, I had a live
auction for a sales package from me (with a free critique
generously thrown in by John) to benefit
100 Dollar Marathon.
Paulie Sabol lent his crowd-working skills to the auction,
and it ended up going for $1,200... making for a nice
introduction to the market
I think I was able to start out on the higher end because
of a few factors...
- Proof from some smaller jobs that had gone well
literally that weekend
- Help from a great copywriter
- Tying the event to a charitable cause that resonated
with my audience
It's not the traditional route... but this seems a lot more
fun to me!
Cheers,
Brian
