Default Websites in your swipe file - 07-11-2007, 01:15 PM

Hey guys,

What websites do you love enough to put into your swipe file? I will probably be doing my marketing through a website, so I want to see what other good copy is out there.

I enjoyed this one a lot :Fat Loss 4 Idiots / Weight Loss and Diet Center
It was a great hook and broken up into a good format that people would actually read!

Did you enjoy it because it's your website?

I wish! Someone else posted that website here because it is the leading offer on clickbank (apparently it sells to the tune of $50,000 a month)

The trouble is without knowing what kind of sales they're doing I can't really recommend any site.

Of course there are some sites put up by public companies where you have some idea of what sort of business they're doing or sites that are covered by articles in magazines like Bodybuilding.com - The Future Of Bodybuilding! Huge Bodybuilding Site. but when it comes to these sites put up by one-person businesses promoting some sort of info product-- who knows? A good looking site may not be converting. An ugly site may be converting like gangbusters. Without sales numbers I can't recommend any sites.

That's a good point Michael. I felt the same which is why I asked this question (I didn't want to guess which sites were good or not myself and had the idea that other copywriters would just know) Any tips on how to start a swipe file then? My field is direct marketing.

A swipe file of web sites?

Yes & no-- let me explain.

Again, I would have a difficult time "saving" websites and referring to them in whole as a useful "swipe" without knowing something about the success of the site or lack thereof...

However I do "swipe" headlines, body copy, website layouts, color combo's and graphics-- I just treat them as separate entities.

Now that's not to say there aren't sites out there that don't impress me overall...

like this one Colonel Littleton

I'm not sure how much the website is making but I know the catalog the company sends out is kickarse.

I think this is a great site too with it's black background and b&w images Planet Smethport 2007 (Smethport, PA is located about 40 minutes south of me-- this site was started as a highschool project and has grown to an amazing size).

But most info marketers websites are so "blah" I don't think many are worth swiping as a whole.

For site design I point to Instantsalesletters.com. I don't know this for a fact, but my guess would be the copy on the site has been tweaked down to the number of periods on the page.
