Cool Plr Websites - 05-17-2007, 07:22 AM

The basic funda of plr site is to post borrowed articles on the website without giving anyone credit and also withhelding the identity of the original poster. In short, its spam unless you are willing to modify them somewhat, you aren't really doing yourself alot of favor by using them on your site. Google is definitely frowning upon those who are using duplicate content.Logically speaking, altering rights should grant the buyer master resale rights as well. But most of the PLR content offers have restrictions to the effect that you can't resell the same without substantial alteration of the products. By "substantial alteration," the seller usually pegs a change of more than 20%.They also state you can not resell or give them away. Now there are sites out there and people are selling the same plr content at cheap prices! It will get to a point that only newbies and fools will purchase such stuff. The only real plr is going to be your own.Someone is selling a software program that he states will take any article and rewrite it differently, no matter how many people submit the same article to the software.

As far as the PLR terms, it is up to the PLR owner to decide. If you find a site and don't agree with the terms you don't need to purchase the PLR.

There are also ways you can use PLR to avoid duplicate content issues - rewriting them is one way (the software you may be referring to is Dupefreepro and it's free to use). You can also use PLR as additional content for your subscribers without actually placing it on your site. And, of course, you can resell some PLR.

On a side note, this is why a lot of people here are posting links to their sites in the Members Content sections instead of just posting it here (I assume anyway)... Because of the fear that Google will penalize duplicate content.

But I want to find out if this is true, so I'm testing it with some of the content I've posted here to see if I get negative results.

I have some affiliates that have asked if they can put
my sales page up on their own domain so they can run
PPC to it.

My apprehension was the duplicate content issue. I guess
the only way I see around this is to build 2 different sites.

1 for sales, and the other for SEO.

Seeing this thread my spam alarm bells went off - sure enough, the guy who started it is a no good drive by spamming simpleton who should have his private parts removed - check his signature here:

Basic Search Engine Optimization tips

Search for his username in Google, banned at several forums - he'll steal anything and post whatever to get a backlink from his signature.

I shouldn't waste my time with this, but I'm really sick of these idiots.

Martin, he (or she) also leaves posts like these over at Lynn Terry's forum, mainly SEO related.

Mila, I'm not a member there but you may want to report it.

He just posted a few times in this forum as well.

Jason, you shouldn't let that deter you.

Duplicate content isn't nearly as big an issue as everyone seems to think it is otherwise, pretty much every site on the Internet would be penalized.

For example, my site is an absolute smorgasbord of duplicate content, and I've never once been penalized. In fact, my page rank (PR), which I place very little value in by the way, has just been increased by Google.

I lurk on SEO forums all the time, and while SEO experts differ in their opinion about duplicate content, many SEO experts, including top SEO expert and owner of HighRankings.com, Jill Whalen share the same viewpoint as mine.

In addition, I've also heard many SEO experts say, Google very rarely penalizes sites for having duplicate content.

However, Google does "devalue" certain ranking criteria and places value on others. So if a site isn't ranked highly, it doesn't necessarily mean it has been penalized, it just means it is using techniques which have less value than others.

That said, in the end, you have to do what you feel comfortable with.
