Default Buying Trances - 03-20-2007, 08:44 PM

Milton Erickson was a keen observer.

He didn't have to "put" anyone in trance. They already were in trance.

He just needed to access their trance and direct it.

If you've ever seen the Monde and Nick videos, you know what I'm talking about.

They are going in and out of trance with no induction.

I never got to train with Milton but I have trained with Dr. Dave Dobson.

I've watched people drop off into trance with no induction at all. Just
a nod of the head, a facial gesture, or even a tonal change and...

off they go.

Dave has pointed out people are in trances all of the time. The question
is not getting people into trance.

It's utilizing the trances they are already in.

A while back, Dr Joe Vitale asked me if I believed people are in specific "Buying Trances".

I replied that people are always in trances, it's just a matter of directing them to what you want them to buy.

Joe's new book called Buying Trances came out at Amazon.

I've contributed a chapter on Nested Loops in Print and Joe takes it a step further in the right direction.

I strongly recommend it.

Peace.

Harlan

I guess as imagine myself enjoying all the benefits of reading this book , the new found knowledge, the increasing amount of money hitting my shopping cart, the new mercedes sl500 convertible.

I can look back at this post as the start of it all.

Go deeper...

It's not just the materialistic benefits. It's how you feel about your inner being. Sure, these things help you get there superficially, but they are only temporary.

The folks who can attain these same thoughts and feelings without the use of external benefits are the ones who win the game of life.

It's all about mindset... all of the other benefits will come naturally and will be found along the path.

Go deep inside your inner self, that's where the treasure lies.

It is this mindset that hinders most people and why most folks never attain vast wealth and success in this world...

They're searching along the wrong path.

Hey Harlan

I was in a Borders store today and came upon Therapeutic Trances: The Cooperation Principle in Ericksonian Hypnotherapy by Stephen Gilligan.
I didn't buy it because of the $121 Aus price. Have you read it? And if you have do you recommend it?

Can you recommend any material about Ericksonian Hypnotherapy which is
relevant to copywriting. I briefly thumbed through Therapeutic Trances and it looked like it could be used in print.

thanks

Bill

Bill,
I don't know what the shipping charges are to Australia, but I found it here on Amazon a lot cheaper.

Thanks Stephen

I will probably buy it from amazon now after seeing that.
I would be interested to know if anyone has that book.
On the other hand im a Generation Xer so its all about instant
gratification versus waiting a month for amazon to ship it to me.

Bill

p.s love the interviews on your site Stephen. Specially the Clayton Makepeace one. Top Job.

Gilligan's book is a great book. It has zero to do with words in print.

Don't kid yourself. The NLP model is a therapeutic model.

Gilligan is a great therapist but not a persuader.

Thanks Harlan.

I might just stick to copywriting and sales books.

Although I did pick up Introducing NLP by O'Connor and Seymour as an
NLP primer. Interesting section in there on the Milton Model.

In October or November I'm probably going to do an immersion training in NLP for copywriters.

The stuff that's out there on NLP in print just reeks.

And most people aren't able to translate the therapeutic model over to sales.

Also, most of the old NLP books are very dated. NLP is from the early 70's. The technology is 30 years old.

Would you use a 30 year old computer?

In one week, we'll go from beginners to superstar.

The only books on NLP I really recommend are:

Frogs into Princes
TranceFormations
Therapeutic Metaphors (if I only could read one book, it would be this)
Structure of Magic Volume I
Patterns of Hypnotic Techniques of Milton Erickson Volume I

If you knew these books, you'd be ahead of the pack.

The only sales material that blows me away was Kenrick Cleveland's Max Persuasion I and any of the writings of Doktor Sulo.

Kenrick's site is Influence and Persuasion Techniques ::*MaxPersuasion.com

Sulo's site is Covert Communications

I have got 2 additional copies of this book

Anyone who wants it, shoot me a PM

Those 2 copies are in neat and clean condition

One of the copies has got the signature of Richard Bandler (wow, pricey)

Insanity has got nothing to do with my selling the autographed copy

The truth is Bandler "dirtied" the front page of that copy

And I didn't like it.

This was what he did: He scribbled the words (which covered the entire page) "Dear NLPer, You'll all ways be in my light causing darkness to elude you. Remember how much pleasure you can stand. Blessed be, Richard Bandler" with a thick, fat marker that resembles the handwriting of a 5 year old with dyslexia, ADD and all other child disability ailments ever known to mankind!

(sidenote: Never let bandler autograph your book. You'll regret)

If you think you're comfortable with it, should me a PM telling me that you want the 'Bandler autographed copy'

Also, give me your best price

And I'll release it to the one who offers the highest price.

Remember it's a rare, out of print book.

You won't find it on eBay

The last time I saw it on eBay was a couple of days ago.

Now, I am a real ass@@@@

I just don't want anybody to get their hands on this book

So I placed a GBP 500 bid and won (at a much lower price, of course)

PS: I just got down to the basement (where my library is) and found 3 additional copies of Tranceformations. If ya interested, shoot me a PM with your best price.

PPS: Shipping is on me, deal?
