Thank you Dean, thank you, thank you.

I have already copied your post to my swipe file.

I believe even I could make a decent effort at writing a sales page with this for a guide.

Dean,
I was struggling with a letter, and one I applied your technique, I got the ideas flowing. Thank you sooo much!

Thank so much Dean and Cartoonman.

I have an idea that I think will blow you away and that might just enhance the above techniques.

I suggest instead of writing by hand to get the ideas flowing. That you simply speak the ideas into a digital voice recorder.

Do it while you're standing up and or walking around. There's something about standing that makes ideas come easier to me than when my body is folded up in a chair. I become much more dynamic.

I've been using this technique to create information products three times faster than I ever did before. Once I get on a role the ideas just come to me one after the other. I talk without a script.

All I need to know is my first sentence and have a good knowledge on my topic and then I start talking. I might mess up a time or two, but then once I get past the first minute or two I usually finish the whole recording.

It's just like talking to a friend on the telephone and I find I hardly edit myself at all while speaking. Plus I can speak much faster than I write.

If Dean's process normally takes an hour with handwriting, it will take only 20 minutes by recording on to a digital voice recorder. If what you got is good enough you can just pay to have someone transcribe it for you. Might only cost you $25 bucks for the transcription.

But I think you'll see that you remove the inner critic easily by speaking instead of writing. And the ideas will flow in an avalanche.

Cheers, Roger

Thanks so much, Dean.

I have just used your outline to get my thoughts out for a new service I'm promoting. It's very helpful and it gets straight to the point.

Great Advice, Indeed.

Great stuff! Not many copywriters talk about using a structure or a formula for writing. A lot of people talk about swiping, which is great. In addition to that I highly recommend creating your own structure.

Using a structure makes it so much easier and faster to write. Not to mention more effective and persuasive as you won't miss out critical details in the midst of writing the copy. Your copy will be more congruent too. And congruency is very persuasive.

Dean's structure is great as it asks you the questions that force you to think about the answers/elements critical to a good copy.

I always start writing my copy using a structure. It is slightly different from Dean's one, based on my personal style. However I think it achieves the same purpose. Here's a summary of the structure I use:

- The Headline style (news, benefits, testimonials, etc)
- What in it for them to read on
- What are the proof / testimonials / credibility booster I can show them (I like adding this early to establish credibility, and then spread them out in the body copy)
- Aggravate pain (what is the positioning of the product? aggravate the pain in relation to the positioning of the product)
- Offer solution (present product positioning and differentiation)
- Bullet Benefits
- Overcome objections
- Any bonuses / scarcity
- Guarantee
- Call to action
- Remind them of pain and pleasure
- Call to action again (repetition tends to increase conversion)

Once I've written them in point form in the above structure, then it's easy to just edit them.

Cheers.

Thanks for taking the time to post that, Dean. Using your idea, I've just pumped out a (rough and ready) draft sales letter that's ready to be honed into a cash converting beast.

Probably one of the most effective forum posts I've seen for getting me off my backside and writing.

Thank you.

Mr Dean,

How much people do you think will actually contact you using the phone number that we place in our sales letters? I mean, I'm not really comfortable for strangers to call me in my house (as my husband is not comfortable too).

Not to mention that the Internet is LIVE for 24 hours a day, I certainly don't want some guy to call me in the middle of the night... but I really want that sale, you know.

Thanks!
