Default How do you organise your work? - 10-07-2003, 07:43 PM

I asked this question in another thread, but I managed to create some confusion, so I'm asking again.

When you are gathering the information and analysis that you need to write copy, how do you store that information? Things like lists of benefits, features, testimonials, product details, headline ideas, client/customer results and all the info generated by the questionnaires and interviews that you do?

Is there a software product that can help with this? Do you have it all on post-its and bits of paper on a cork-board? Do you put it all into Microsoft Word or Excel?

Is this type of thing a trade secret and that's why no one has answered my original question?

Someone please H-E-L-P-!

There's a great little tool that does this really well. Maybe you've heard of it? It's called eGems. Lets you collect data and organize it as you find it. I heard about it on the AWAI board.

Here's the link:

Hi Janet,

I'm not sure if this will help but my primary two tools are a Palm Pilot, and Time Matters.

Time Matters is a desktop CRM software database that allows me to track anything related to clients and projects. I can easily file and find documents, email messages, agreements and contracts, milestones, notes, various stages of drafts, client edits, feedback, etc. etc.

It's difficult to explain the sheer power and flexibility in a brief message, but you'll find videos, screenshots, articles, etc. at their website:

Some might consider it overkill for a one person business, but I consider having all of this information on demand to be invaluable.

Thanks Nava for the heads up on the Egems product - looks like that's going to be the type of thing I need.

Glad you like it. I felt the same way when I found it.
