You seem like a witty, intelligent bunch, so can you help me?

I've been asked to plan an hour long 'tone of voice' writing workshop for a large client. Can you think of any games/exercises I could include. We're trying to encourage them to write in a more informal, friendly way - less corporate basically. There'll be about 10 in the group.

If you've had any experience of this sort of thing, or if you just have any ideas or suggestions - I'd love to hear them!

Since "tone of voice" is more aural than written, I suggest you use spoken role playing. Have people act out things like: a 10-year old boy describing his favorite computer game, a toddler asking for a cookie, an old lady who disapproves of young people today, etc. Have people note the vocabulary, the pacing, etc., that role players use. You could also use video clips instead of role playing. From there, they can use their notes to write in an assigned "tone."
