Default Client follow-up techniques - 01-10-2007, 08:27 AM

Good morning:

Just doing a little bit of research here, and I would love to get some feedback from my fellow writers ...

1. What is your most effective method for following up with prospective clients?

2. Do you follow up by phone? Email? Both?

3. If a prospect doesn't answer your initial follow ups, how often do you contact them over the following months to "keep your name in front of them," so to speak?

There are so many different schools of thought about this. I have my own methods, but I'm really interested to know what works best for some of you out there.

Thanks!
Donna

Donna,

I use a combination of handwritten notes, e-mails, phone calls, and meals.

Best book on the subject I've seen is "Never Eat Alone" by Keith Ferrazzi.

First impressed by him in an Inc. Mag. article: 10 Secrets of a Master Networker.

The article is great but just scratches the surface. Get the book.

Regards,

-Mike

Donna, I follow up using a combination of phone and e-mail.

I find telephone follow up extremely effective, as I often get a ton of referral business via this method.

When clients actually hear your voice, you become more real...more trustworthy...and as a result, clients are more comfortable referring additional business to you.
