Exclamation Perverse Curiosity Can Kill - 11-28-2006, 11:19 AM

Perverse Curiosity Can Kill Your Productivity

It's important to control how and when you communicate with prospects - both online and off.

Why? Because there is a significant percentage of individuals who will click on your ad or sales letter, e-mail you or pick up the telephone and call you - knowing full well they aren't in the least bit interested in your offer.

This action is called "perverse curiosity."

It's basically why you see cars slow down and rubberneck at the scene of a horrific accident.

There really isn't any way to completely eliminate perverse curiosity.

However, there are 3 ways you can reduce it.

1. Take a hardline approach in your sales copy. You can say something to the effect..."serious inquries only!"

2. Don't publish your regular e-mail address in your sales copy or on your website. Use an alternative e-mail address or a e-mail contact script.

3. Don't publish your phone number. Use a voicemail system.

Some people don't have anything better to do with their time, other than waste yours.

This is how they get their kicks.

Remember, your time is valuable.

Don't let anyone abuse it.

Dale.

Please excuse my ignorance, but what exactly is an "e-mail contact script"?

Thanks,
Jim

Jim, it's only ignoranance when you don't ask questions.

No one knows everything.

People learn by asking questions.

Anyway, I digress.

An e-mail contact script or form allows visitors to your website to contact you- without you actually revealing your e-mail address.

Not only does this protect your privacy, it almost completely eliminates spam as well.

Some websites have a built-in script others don't.

You can get these scripts for free all over the Internet.

Just type "e-mail contact script" or "e-mail contact form" into your favorite search engine.

If you want to see an example of a script, just visit my website and click on "Contact" on my top navigation bar.
