Hello all,

If you only had 200.00 to start a mail order business, how would you do it.
What kind of advertising would you use and where would you get the
biggest bang for your buck.

I have done and started biz like this regular. It does depend on what you are selling and the bottom line ... profits.

If you have a high-end ticket product you have to get very, very targeted to kick-start your sales.

For example. Look for and be sure of who wants to buy your product. Aim directly at them and them only. Say you locate 10 prospect and they are all high probability customers as you have done your testing and research.

Put your cash into chasing them only. When you get the sale put the money right back into more marketing auntil you have a decent pool to build on. Its a numbers game nothing more nothing less.

Just firing out mail and hoping ... sucks and never pulls.

Do you know anyone that sends out mail now? Find a company that does that. Ask them if you can include your offer in their mailout. Split the proifits with them on JV. Dead easy.

Cause it is coming from a regualr sender this increases your chances of a sale. Make sure they not you talk in the letter about how they love your product and want the prospects to know how great it would be for them.

I know I'm coming in a little late on this one... but... considering the fact that I am about to test a new mail order information business... here's what I suggest (and am doing)...

1. Niche market using broadcast fax - it is very cheap and if you can target your market narrowly you will get a big bang for your buck. The fax offers a free report. Of course, the free report is a sales letter. Two-stepping the process will increase response and weed poor prospects.

And...

2. Send out News Releases to all publications, TV and radio stations that cater to your niche market.

Joe Polish - a direct marketer to the carpet cleaning business - started his info products biz with news releases to carpet cleaning industry trade pubs. His first release generated like $7,000 in orders and it didn't cost him a dime. Now his info biz rakes in somewhere in the neighborhood of half-million to a million "clams" a year.

Try it out. I certainly will be with my new project.
