Default The Sen Ze Letter - 11-08-2006, 07:03 PM

In Breakthrough Copywriting, Michel shows this famous Sen Ze letter where the writer tells a story about how he got to where he is. Michel called it great swipe material.

I went to the site senze.com but that letter seems to be gone. Anyone have a copy, or know where I can find one?

Michel maybe? Come on pal... give it up... please?

Have you looked at Wayback Machine?

Internet Archive Wayback Machine

Try the January 23, 2005 link. Is that the letter?

Thanks Subtle... I didn't even think of that. That's not exactly it... but very close. I see a subtle change in the headline.

Thanks again.

The Wayback machine is a great way to also see how sales letters have changed over time. You can see actual test results played out over long periods in some regards.

Also, another trick I use to check a sales letter after it's been taken down is to go to www.domainname.com/index2.html and ../index3.html, etc. I've found more swipe letters this way that were no longer available.

Want an example? When I bought Jay Abraham and Marc Goldman's JV Mastery course, I forgot to swipe the sales letter. When I went back, I saw what you'll see at Jay Abraham and Marc Goldman's Joint Venture Mentorship Program Home-Study Course

But when I checked Jay Abraham and Marc Goldman's Joint Venture Mentorship Program Home-Study Course , voila! Jackpot!

For this to work, first you have to make sure you have the index file extension correct. Index pages can be named:

index.html
index.htm
index.php
default.asp

...and probably others. So go to www.domain.com and note the web page. Then try www.domain.com/index.html and see if you see the same letter. If not, move on to www.domain.com/index.htm, index.php, etc.

When you find it, try variations on the filename without the .html (or whatever) extension until you find it.

This doesn't always work, but it;s worth a try, and it works more often than you'd think.

For the Sen Ze site, you'll find a different sales letter at Internet Business & Internet Marketing Coaching Boot Camp (minus the images). Don't know if that's the one you were looking for or not, Vin.

Yeah, I added it to my swipe file. If you want it with graphics et al pm me an email address and I can send you the zip.

John

Thanks John for the resources. Another way to see the old version if the page has recently changed is to go to google and search for the domain name. Once there look for the word "cached" under the page google found for you and click on it.

That has saved me a bunch of times. It won't work though with high pr sites that get indexed daily, and it won't work if the site uses the 'no archive' tag in the html telling google not to cache the site.

But those are rare.
