Thumbs up Do You Have A Multiple Products Website? - 10-30-2006, 10:36 AM

I currently have multiple websites selling different products that are all exercise products and exercise information products. All the products are related

I am considering creating one main website offering all the products, but my fear is that the main product needs to be explained i.e. long sales copy so I am confused.

I don’t really want to offer the products on a catalog style website, but I don’t see any other solutions.

Any ideas or solutions?

Appreciate any help offered.

Frank Sherrill

PS I am thinking of styling it similar to either of these two:

Internet Marketing Center®

Combat Conditioning Strength Training and Conditioning Program

We have all of our products on one website, you can view here at braidsbybreslin.com

I think you're better off putting it all together.

We not only have all our products on one website, but we actually tell our customers that they should be buying the products in sequence.

98% of our clients actually follow the sequence. And the products start with $100 and currently go to $10,000. Expect that last amount to change to about $50,000 over the next 5 years or so.

All our clients are told in advance, that the best thing to do would be to buy the products in sequence, as part of a continuing education.

Frank,

Look closer. They're actually more similar than you think. Internet Marketing Center is actually the focal point for many separate sites selling separate programs. And Matt Furey has many separate sites and one main site.

Basically the goal is not to have a great main site, but a great list to sell to. Both of these create a list, then cross-sell various products.

I really like your sales letter, looks like a great product. Honestly, the only reason why I didn't buy it is because there's so much that I'm confused. I think a summary ("Here's what you get") at the very end would have sold me. You might want to test that if you haven't already - I'm sure a lot of people skip down for the summary after they're sold and don't want to read anymore.

Frank,

I've become a "believer" in home pages that focus on a single product with a "sales-letter" look to them. BUT I maintain a separate order page where I hammer the prospect with a variety of tie-in products. What this does is:

1. I figure if they go to the order page then they are pretty well sold on the main item.
2 With them being "sold" on the main item suggesting up-sells and cross-sells has proven to be relatively easy.

I really do believe trying to sell multiple items off of a home page is suicidal-- that's too confusing and it's difficult to interject cross-sells and up-sells into the equation.

I've built up a very successful business using this model with a better than 5% conversion rate for every person that hits a home page. And I'm not talking about 5% signing up for a freebie either but for people spending more than $50.

There's a lot of negativity towards catalogue sites, and it's sometimes I think it's a little too general. Sure, most single-page sites are crushing competing catalogue sites, but I'm not sure if that's because of the "options" factor so much as...

1. Most catalogue sites have poor copy, or very little copy. Often times their images outsize the content.

2. Some catalogue sites actually break up the copy for ONE product into multiple pages. I actually heard one ad agency argue, "You have to move them, one click at a time." This is silly. It's like a saleman asking someone to go to another salesman to hear more about the product.

One option is having a catalog site, that opens up into new windows overtop that have sales copy with no navigation bar.

Main thing is getting them on a mailing list, and then sending them to the pages you want.

Do you think Matt Furey's making $30K/day because of people meandering around his sites? or because he sends an email out everyday telling them where to go and what to buy?

John
