Default White background or yellow background for a sales page? - 09-30-2004, 10:12 AM

Hi,

Does anyone have any experience, results, etc. of whether having an online sales page on a white or yellow background is more effective?

Most online sales pages I see are on a white background. But Gary Halbert uses a yellow background for his newsletter (not a salesletter per se, but he does use it to sell stuff).

Well, what say all you?

Yes, I know the answer is to test. But for the time being, we can't test. So I'm looking for results of others to help guide us.

THANKS!

James

G'day mate,

I always use a white background.

And I dare to say that Gary Halbert doesn't test a lot at this time in his life. YES he is one of the best copywriters in the world. But I doubt that he split tests like our good friend Michel Fortin (who usually uses white backgrounds).

Hello James:

You should always use a white background for sales letters or any other business correspondence.
