Default Online Swipe File (Print Ads from 1911 to 1955) - 10-22-2006, 03:33 PM

Hi all,

I don't know if this has been mentioned here before, but I came across a print ad database assembled by Duke University. The ads span from 1911 up through 1955.

Some ads are not so good, but a lot have good headlines and coupons (for direct response).

Here is one of the good ones I found, from 1945.

Mother of 3 becomes a PIN-UP BEAUTY!

How Mrs. Edrie Beal of Fredonia, Kansas,
got a bathing-suit figure and how her
Navy husband got the surprise of his life.

A decent headline, before-and-after pictures, a testimonial story, and a coupon for lead generation and tracking. Good stuff...

Default Thanks! - 11-15-2006, 08:14 PM

Thanks.

That's a pretty neat database. Over 2,500 ads in all.

Hopefully there are many ads from old ad masters in there.

Won't have time to search it until next week. But I do appreciate the link very much. Maybe others do too but just haven't had time to say so.

Take care.

Andre
