I agree with Terry

No doubt about it...Open Office is the way to go for creating PDFs.

I use it exclusively. And have since version 1.3.

And it can convert MS Word, Excel, and Power Point files great.

OpenOffice.org: Home. It's a great FREE office suite.

Basic html & scripting sources:
how to do it: W3Schools Online Web Tutorials
find scripts that do some task you want: Dynamic Drive DHTML(dynamic html) & JavaScript code library

browser archive:
(seems like a perfect complement to sizer)
evolt.org

Outlining tool: (a nice, light resource footprint)
Tranglos software: KeyNote

Good research sources:
Newspaper archives and journal articles - HighBeam Research
I think there are some things here that you don't get
with your typical online library resources

A lot of cool free marketing tools:
Free Marketing Tools
Keywords
Link Popularity Checker
Marketing Forum Watch
Search Engine Chart
Search Engine Rankings

Is mentioning Alexa the Web Information Company too obvious?

(sorry for all the edits -- I accidentally pasted html in the window )

Right now I've been trying to find websites or software (hopefully free or cheap) that can handle project related tasks. It's great when it has project and time management operations, invoices, customer tracking, and so forth.

The best I have found is Side Job Track. That is almost exactly what I am looking for -- and free.

What does everyone else use to manage their projects and accounting related things?

Thanks so much for these great tips and tools! I'm just starting my freelance copywriting business and already I've seen how important it is to stay focused... I need to be getting plans in place for when my work picks up and these ideas are wonderful.

Hi,

I would also mention CSSEdit from MacRabbit (I can't post a live link yet, because my post count is less than 10, but just Google it)

For formatting sales pages or critiquing it's a phenominal way to change the look and feel of a site...and you can preview everything on the fly.

The most addictive part is you can load up any website, and it'll show you all of the CSS code, which you can then change & live preview.

(Hint: try loading up cnn.com, and change the font to 18pt pink arial, and the background color to bright green! The possibilities are endless! Hilarious)

Anyway, as long as you have a Mac, it's a great way to spend forty bucks.

Steve

Hi Everyone,
I need some helpful advice. I have a bluecollar service business here in New York. I'm writing a salesletter to be distributed as a flyer. I've been reading a lot of guidelines by the great Ted Nicholas and Craig Garber. They recommend after the headline to use a 2 or 3 column tabloid style format. I hired a print shop but the guy procrastinated for over 2 weeks and came back with 2 screwed up proofs looking like nothing I requested. I figured I would be charged for his "learning curve"if he ever did get it right so I fired him. I'm back to square one, I tried to get the format several times on MS Word and Wordperfect but I found it impossible to get anywhere with these programs.
Could anyone recommend a good user friendly wordprocessing program that an amateur could use to tabloidize a sales letter?
Does anyone know anyone(anywhere!!!) familiar with sales letters headlines, column format who could properly format this tabloid style for a fair price?
PLEASE RESPOND, Thanks in Advance (reachquinn earthlink.net)

The most useful tool is the GoogleNotepad

I like how with the google aps you can have it all located (along with an email account) right on your home-page....

Then you can even create tabs.

So I have all of my productivity stuff on one tab (the front one) then all the feeds I might read in another tab... etc.

Works very well and keeps all of those google aps right on hand. They blow me away with their resources.

Another thing I do is use the Google Notebook which is on the homepage but also built into firefox if you get the extension. Then I use it as a swipe file, notes for clients, ideas...etc. and it's all nicly organized.

Have you ever considered searching freelance agents on such databases as; Elance, Guru or others? There are several professionals their to assist you. I also found a website that helped my business
