One tool I found to be especially useful for writing in general is Lexical Freenet:

Lexical FreeNet

A great thread BTW

Hello everyone,

XMailWrite - XMailWrite is like notepad on steroids so to speak.

It gives you accurate exact word, total word, sentence, paragraph
& line count. It also gives you a readability score on your copy.

It's originally designed for writing quality email messages that are
easy to read that are more likely to get through spam filters.

But it's features can lend a copy writer a few benifits.

It's free but you do have to register for it first via squeeze page.
But you can unsubscribe at any time though.

Please note that this is not my software or website.

This tool is good for looking at your website in
different monitor sizes to make sure it's going
to look consistent accross all monitor sizes.

Sizer

You can add different sizes to it also.

You know there are guys in the trenches that never get any recognition. Without them our copywriting businesses wouldn't happen. So I just want to offer a couple of mine with you.

I use Katharine at Freelance Proofreading Services,* Copy Writing and* Editing Services UK for my proofreading. Fast, perfect and delivers on time. I have used at least 6 proofreaders. She is THE BEST, no question!

(I have also used 2 of the most renown online, both failed to deliver the goods for me). Katharine is red-hot, does the job.

Another fantastic resource I use is Mila at Custom Articles, Ebooks, Special Reports and Transcripts from AllCustomContent.com she does a great transcription work (the best I have used for transcription).
Just wanted to share with you. I only use the best. You guys deserve the best.

Here's just 2 of them.

Can you add to this? Please do.

Alan

I noticed WriteRoom mentioned, and thought I'd offer another program for Mac users....

Scrivener. It's absolutely fantastic, worth every cent paid. =)

It lets you store notes, it gives you the ability to store all your research material, saved sites, pdf files, drafts.... it's very sexy.

Check it out! (oh and the fullscreen mode is a dream)

I myself prefer to use Open Office to create my books. It is a very strong and versitile word processing app and it has the built in function of converting a document into a PDF file.

This is just my opinion but I find it to be the best free program on the web to make PDF files.
