A couple of productivity tips/tools.

1) You know when you visit a website and there's no search facility or the one that exists isn't particularly helpful. You can tap into Google or even Yahoo! for that matter, to search for you.

Go to Google and in the search bar type in according to the formula below

"site:domainname.com query"

For example, to search for the term adwords on copywritersboard type site:wwwcopywritersboard.com adwords

Same for Yahoo! , see example http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=sit...fp-t-500&x=wrt

Both the Google and Yahoo! search bars (if you have either of them installed) will search a site from the comfort of your browser. For Google type in your search term(s) in the search box, then from the "search" pull-down menu select "current site".

Note: this only works to the extent that Google/Yahoo have indexed that particular website.

2) If you want to find the definition of something, in Google's search bar type "define: query"

Where "query" is the word or phrase you want to find definitions for.

See example define: copywriter

Kind regards,

Tom

Default Pandora - 10-23-2006, 10:40 PM

Pandora Internet Radio - Find New Music, Listen to Free Web Radio

Have you noticed that your concentration seems to jump from one thing to another when there's nothing but your thoughts to keep you grounded? Do you find yourself tapping your foot, Or rapping your pen against the desk as you work through a complicated thought?

If you find yourself creating noise to keep your head in check, you may be missing something essential to productivity...

Music

Music is not only an expression of creativity but also a means to escape drab and boring thoughts. By giving your subconscious mind something to focus on you're freeing yourself - your conscious self - to stay focused on your project.

What is Pandora?

Pandora is a music discovery service designed to help you find and enjoy music that you'll love. It's powered by the Music Genome Project, the most comprehensive analysis of music ever undertaken. Just start with one of your favorite songs or artists and Pandora launch a streaming station to explore that part of the music universe. Pandora will then take your input (artists, songs) and feedback ("I like this", "I don't like this") and use the Music Genome Project to create stations that play songs that are musically similar to what you've picked. That's it; only the music counts.

Pandora is your personal DJ who will find the music YOU like.

Open the link and put in your favorite tune or artist. You'll be surprised at some of the matches 3, 5, even 20 songs in! Pandora is always shaping your station. Let it.

Default Microsoft Office Accounting 2007 = Peace Of Mind... I Hope - 10-31-2006, 04:56 PM

Gotta say folks, I'm pretty geeked up about the new FREE - no strings attached - launch of Microsoft Office Accounting 2007.

You can combine it with the new Outlook and basically have everything you need to run your small biz: like invoicing, quotes, CRM, doing business online, etc.

No, I'm not a sales rep with Microsoft... and I've yet to use the product. I'm going to download it in about five minutes and give it a go. With Microsoft and Google battling each other... hopefully we will be the big winners.

I hope this product is as good as it looks. I'll let you know.

Anyone know of any great keyword research tools? I'm familiar with Wordtracker.com and Overture but Wordtracker.com is not cheap and Overture is slow to process and sometimes doesn't work at all.

I use several, including Brad Callen's Keyword Elite. Keyword Elite isn't cheap, but it's a one time cost instead of residual like Wordtracker.

It's at http://www.keywordelite.com

But for a good free tool, try:

Default Popup Generator - 11-28-2006, 09:32 PM

for everyone who works in the interactive world, this is a handy site:

The JavaScript Source: Code Generators: Popup Window Maker

Enter some info in a few boxes and it generates the html for the popup of your choice. Use it and wipe that smile off the programmers face.

BTW - seems like more and more, I'm being asked to write & edit copy right in html or Dreamweaver. Maybe worth another post elsewhere...

I found irrelevant links to weird tools in this “copywriter’s productivity tools’ thread.

Here’s my list interesting sites for writers.

Boy, you talk about a info-packed post!

There's a boat-load of useful resources that I didn't know about.

Thanks for sharing that with us, WordArtist.

OpenOffice.org: Home

Great open source program that has a word processor, spreadsheet, html editor, and other tools all in one.

FREE.

It adapts to Word docs pretty well, and has a pdf creator inside it.
