Default Your favourite Sales Books - 09-26-2006, 03:37 PM

As we all know copywriting is just "selling in print".

And it greatly helps your copy skills if you read the best selling books. The ones I like are;

The Sales Bible

The Closers (and the Closers part 2)

Also anything by Zig Ziglar, Tom Hopkins are well worth reading.

But I would love to hear about any elses favourites

Steve

Anything by Ziglar and Ogilvy (yes, he was advertising, but also brilliant understanding of sales psychology).

Also Maslow, because that's where I first learned about the hierarchy of human needs, and what motivates people to do what they do.

Here's a short list of some quite good sales books that I have read at least 3 times.

Sales Bible- Jeffrey Gittomer
On Selling- Zig Ziglar
Secrets of Question Based Selling- Thomas A Freese
Soft Selling in a Hard World- Jerry Vass (My definite favorite, and a quick read)
Advanced Selling Strategies- Brian Tracy
Selling Yourself to Others- Kevin Hogan
No B.S. Sales Success- Dan Kennedy
Zero Resistance Selling- Maxwell Maltz

Most of these are older and you can get used for a decent price. At any rate pick them up at Amazon.com.

For tapes, I recommend highly Ebay.

Psychology of Selling- Brian Tracy
Master the Art of Selling Anything- Tom Hopkins
Advanced Selling Strategies(6 cd)- Brian Tracy

If you're a NOOB and don't have the bucks to buy all the books listed above. Here's my recommendation:

The Sales Bible by Gitomer

If I had this one book when I sucked at sales, I would have become the number 1 residential contstruction salesman on the West coast much faster. (It took me 9 months to do it on my own with a little help from a Sandler Sales Seminar.)

Also, head on over to Gitomer's site and register there for his weekly letter.

His website is just packed to the gills with FREE sales info. You really don't have to buy any of his books, but if you have a conscious, you'll feel guilty as all hell if you don't.

Now, if you have a few extra bucks, then buy his Little Red Book of Selling. In the book there are lots of "keywords" that you can use on his website to access tons of articles on the subjects he touches on lightly in the book. It's going to take you a few months to read all the stuff he has there. It's so overwhelming.

Gitomer truly understands what it takes to sell in the 21st century.

Mr. Subtle CAN be bought (from time to time):

Oh man - so many good books you've all posted and I've got to add one of my all time favorites, especially since it's now Free!

Ken Envoy's excellent "Make Your Site Sell" was worth every penny I paid for it quite a few years ago, but now that it's free everyone should own a copy of Make Your Site SELL! 2002
