Wow! I think that's a fantastic site! I like the text and the graphics. It seems very effective to me and my "amateur" eyes. It's definitely one for my "Swipe File." I'm even thinking about buying the product, though I'm normally pretty skeptical.

What do you think, Michel? Could a rookie copywriter actually USE something like this to help boost his/her productivity?

I like the idea that Magic Bullet is educational and apparently puts some great copywriting techniques and tips right in front of you as you're working on your promotion. I have reference materials, books, websites, binders, audio files, reports, etc., scattered all around my home office and computer. I'm an organized person, but sometimes it's a real pain to find something in particular when I need it. This software seems like it might be very useful for that.

Anyone here tried anything like this before?

Bonnie,

I was totally in love with Keith's concept of some software to help me organise my thoughts and notes, because I had been looking for something for a long time. And something that would remind me about the steps needed in the actual copy itself did indeed sound like a magic bullet!

Sadly, I was rather disappointed by the software. There were various usability issues, and it really wasn't as flexible as I had hoped. I can't remember exactly what my particular issues with it were now, and they may not apply to you - I think it depends on how you work.

To his credit, Keith was very helpful and took on board some of my feedback. I don't know whether he has updated the product since then (it was about 6 months ago that I took a look at it). But once I'd given it a good hiding (as an ex-tech support person I'm pretty good at putting software through its paces) and realised that it wouldn't work for me, he cheefully refunded my money.

Happily, I did find my "magic bullet" in the form of Treepad www.treepad.com. What I have done with this is imported in all my copywriting tips and techniques, created some questionnaires for clients to fill in regarding background information, and created some forms for organising all the information. I've been using it for a month and I honestly don't know how I ever survived without it. No more thousands of word documents all over the place!

Jane

Mr. Price, the creator of the software, was on this forum asking for a review, some time ago.

The software does look as though it might be a pretty solid product. And if it increased my productivity by just the smallest margin...

Well, if you take it for a spin, be sure to let me know what you think, won't you?

Hey, that was fun to see my software be the topic of a discussion. Thanks, Michel, for starting the topic and for the complement about the tour/tutorial. And, thanks, Peter, for letting me know about the thread.

I remember talking with Jane about her purchase. She said she was disappointed with The Magic Bullet, but that's really because she thought it was something entirely different than what it's designed to do. I remember that she wanted to be able to store goups of questions that she could go through for any number of clients. What it does, it does well.

I honor all refund requests, so if you're curious, there's no risk.

I'm happy to answer any questions.

Awesome copy, although very lengthy towards the bottom. What I loved most was the opening (you have to read the headline first, no distractions) but most of all I fell in love with the Audio opening. What an awesome way to identify with the reader and his problems - Very "on the money" and very personal. I don't need the software but I'd almost buy it out of empathy. Great job, best of luck.

I also think the audio is great.

The copy misses me as it's aimed at a group other than writers.

I would like to try the software before buying - not that I think that will happen. I'm simply reporting on the state of mind where the copy left me.

I think the copy is directed more to sales people and small business owners, which is a different group altogether. It's probably too basic to be of use to copywriters - I might be wrong here but that's how it seems to be positioned, and I figure it does very well with those audiences.
