Default "NEW" is a potent word!!! - 07-14-2006, 11:39 AM

I happened to chance upon this online sales copy which had a headline that really caught my attention... I recalled this same technique being used by Jay Abraham in one of his advertisements in my country's newspaper

Have a look ---> http://www.misspellingsmakemoney.com

Notice that the word 'NEW' is a potent word and it definitely makes a helluva
difference to the meaning of the entire headline thus will determine whether your reader will wanna read on and also, notice the specifics ($1000 in a week) too...

Hehe... I was wondering if emphasizing the word "NEW" would further boost its potency... like highlighting it or double underline

Jay used this same word in his ad

"New Hope For Businesses That Aren't Making All The Money They Should Be Making!"

Also, notice the word 'HOPE' and 'NEW" goes along pretty well... =)

Comments pls... ? =)

Wordsmith:

The fact that the word "New" is potent seems like a revelation to you. If you'd like to see thousands of such potent words, I suggest you pick up a copy of Richard Bayan's "Words That Sell." You can pick up a copy at Amazon for around $14.95.

The book is split into 6 sections - Grabbers, Descriptions and Benefits, Clinchers, Terms & Offers, Special Strategies, and an Appendix containing miscellaneous sections. There is also a 2 page copywriting primer included that has 8 tips to learn before you start writing copy.

The Appendix has several miscellaneous topics like 'Categories of Copy', 'Puffspeak - And Its Alternative', 'Wordy Expressions', 'Commonly Misspelled Words', 'Commonly Confused Words', 'Selling Yourself', 'Sample Order Forms', and 'Further Reading'.
