Ok, most of the folks who come here probably prefer direct response and our kind of marketing over Madison Avenue's, because of 3 things:
1) Results.
2) Results.
3) Results.
(Ok, I swiped the location cliche).
But I have to admit, there are some "Madison Avenue" type ads that grab our attention...and more importantly cause us to remember who the ad is for and what product. For example, I just heard the latest Budweiser ad on their "Real Men of Genius" series of ads (to get the mother lode, I googled it at
http://thefuntimesguide.com/movablet...ight_real.html -- I didn't know there were more than 50 of these things!).
I have to say, Budweiser has never been boring with their ads. But they seem to have done better with this series than they did with their usual Superbowl commercials. In the SB commercials, you don't remember which beer company did which ad (usually). But with this promotion, you probably won't mistake it for Coors or Miller, for the simple reason that you've become "conditioned" for this ad. You know the music. You know that hilarious backup singer. I think if Bud did a video version of this radio ad series (since most people have already heard them and associated it with Bud), they would be both non-boring AND remembered.
Do YOU have a radio or TV ad that was not boring AND you remembered the company and product later on?
More importantly, did you purchase based on that commercial?
Personally, I only buy Bud Light when I have a party, when I know there'll be Bud Light drinkers there. For me? It's ok. But for light beers I prefer Coors Light. And the funny thing is, it probably has nothing to do with tatse.
I'll bet some of you know why.
All the Best,
John
