Default Old Dog Cries "SOS" - 09-19-2003, 10:23 PM

Direct response marketing has been the backbone of new lead aggregation in my real estate practice for years. Heck I'm among the single % that understand and use auto responders, toll free hot lines and free reports. That's why this site is so humbling.

What I have been reading in some of these postings makes me feel like a babe in the woods ... HELP!

The concept of the "long sales copy" is brilliant, web pages without links etc. Where do I start???

Can anyone suggest simple web site creation software, a formula for writing long copy?

Most Humbled,
michael k

Hi old dog

Not quite sure if you are asking two questions so I will work on the basis that you are.

Website creation software.
http://websitewizard.com produce a cool piece of kit for crtreating and instant site. Has all the online marketing tools you need including autoresponders

Long Sales Copy:
Long sales copy can only be long if it worth wroitong about. Myth is that long copy increases sales! In some cases long copy would decrease sales. I have clinets say to me, I want an 8 page sales letter. But when I survey the project I know that 8 pages will send the custmoer to sleep.

I other words dont write it if the customer wont be interested. Dont bore them to death. Dont go on and on and on and on for the sake of writing long copy. Dont assumebecause you are interested in the subject that they will be.

Now if you know for sure its what they want to read and what they want to hear ... write until your heats content. Recently I wrote a 16 page sales letter. To befrank I was a little worried about it going out. They sent it. It has a massive pull.
So ... only create long copy if your subject can take it and your audience is interested.

Hey Alan,
Thanks for the reply and yes they were two questions.
I have had great success using postcards with a call to action and free reports. This long copy stuff is new to me however I see it being used more and more.
What I am trying to do is get away from a traditional multi page web site and direct consumers to a specific page and thus the long copy.
I am implementing a fee for service based real estate concept (estate agency to you in the U.K.) which already has my competition foaming at the mouth. The problem is that I do not want to lead with price or savings although this concept delivers both. My thinking was that the long copy plus an e-book would help lead capture and also remove me form having to tell the same story to the customer.
Cheers and thanks again.
PS. You have a great site by the way, did you create it form scratch or use the webwizard product?

Michel,

Yep from scratch using Front Page. Yes if you are directing them right to a page... sure use "longer" copy but only what is needed to sell the story, tell the facts, get the sale.

Thanks for the compliment.
