Default Headline and the first kiss - 04-21-2006, 11:00 AM

Where is the end? This is my question and I think modestly that it is the preoccupation of many readers.

Copy are being longer, and it is standard and established that copy have to be longer, copywriter have a lot to write about, it is not easy to convene reader, to urge theirs needs, and to push them in the order phase, for that they have to speak a lot, to write a lot.

I can understand, when this is about the copy itself, but why headline begin to be more then a headline, to fall in a flashing paragraph. They begin to be longer then ever.

Bold typography, lighten color long headline.

This is the result of copywriter’s cumuli effort of making more, for less, readers are in the fourth stage of sophistication (god bless you Eugene M.Schwartz), and the next stage is one is the dead one.

Many copywriters are aware of that, and they begin anticipating the disaster, some invest in joint venture, other in seminar, and other in diet.

What is the solution is longer headline make it better then short one?

I asked my self this question last night and honestly I found my self suddenly smiling I was just remembering when I was younger, in the college there was many seductors pseudo one, the guy who speak a lot, but never do anything, go in action and never waste your time in speech.

A simple Hi, is better then a lot when you are approaching a beautiful lady, I learn it by experience, never tell here your life story, just make your discussion pleasant, and listen.

The first kiss analogy, never talk lot, and never stay silent, just make it short the important is the action.

The originality isn’t in longer headline, think lot and make it short.

Don’t tell them your life story.

Ps: let me know if you disagree.

I agree.

Copy should be as long as it needs to be.

Copy nowadays is 10 pages long or more almost like it's become a standard... And for a lot of offers, you really don't need all that warm up and hype.

Copy is becoming filler, and I ain't reading filler. Nobody is.

Good call. And good to see another Schwartz fan in here
