Default What's up with Harlan? - 03-29-2006, 07:50 AM

Firstly, i consider you a world class copywriter, Harlan. I've spent hours Googling to discover your network of sites so i can add your salesletters to my swipe file. (The xxx-xxxx [deleted by Moderator] one was great. Story telling at its best)

But, it's really annoying how you keep sending emails and making posts about how much AWAI suck.

Okay, okay we get the point. In fact, i like AWAI and their salesletters, and everything associated with them.

I don't know how bad they are cheating people, like you keep suggesting, but i enjoy their courses and all their material. And their main AWAI salesletter is a master piece.

Certainly it isn't a sales technique to dis the competition in public, like you're doing?

Allen Says once said: when you openly attack your competitor it just makes you look bad. It makes you look insecure, or afraid of them.

And i agree. I don't get your emails. They're starting to frustrate me. Why don't you have the balls to openly name who talking about in your emails (i assume its AWAI)...

Is it just hype, or is someone honestly knocking your ideas off, like you say? Show me their sites so i can see? Where's the proof? Where's the facts?

And even if they are... isn't it called competition. We all have to deal with it. Why are you so special?

Are you trying to use the "it's them versus us" sales technique? Cause that isn't the effect it's having on me. I'm growing tired of it to be honest. Where are you trying to go with it?

I'm not associated with AWAI in any way whatsoever. But to me, it's getting old.

And i mean, you seem to be doing your own twist on the Underachiever Formula yourself, on your Sixfigurecopy.com site.

I considered you as such a great marketer, but i just don't understand the bitching and winging about the competition. Which is how it comes across to me.

If it's more than competition... if they are outright stealing from you... ftc.com?

Put it to rest?

First post is a rant.

And anonymous.

Blank profile.

Zero credibility.

(Oh, and I'm anxious to see Harlan's reply.)

Yeah Harlan... refusing to name people in your emails is about as gutless as hiding behind an anonymous screen name like "co1py"

I also can't help but notice that this is your first
post here. The majority of the participants on this
forum are very transparent about who they are.

So why are you hiding in the shadows?

As for the "underachiever" reference...if you'd been
at our seminar you would know how different the
materials we shared are from that program.

If you're tired of Harlan's messages, or
don't agree with them, it's really very simple.
Unsubscribe from the list and you'll never have
to see another one.

You simply do not know the background
of what's going on.

Or, on the other hand...maybe you do, and this
is hitting a little too close to home for comfort.

No i DONT know the background of what's going on. I would like to know though...

Give me the background so i can understand...? That's my point. Harlan is trashing an organisation, but not giving any substantial facts.

If it is AWAI he is trashing (99% sure of it), i think it's unfair unless you put the full story out on the table.

Bob Bly, Makepeace, AWAI has tons of credibility. More in my book than Harlan. And im sure many others think the same.

So i just dont get this whole trash talk thing he is doing... Is it marketing tactic?

All im saying is i think it's hurting Harlan more then it's helping. It just seems like a bunch of hype to me... a sales tactic... "trash the competion" in print?

If it's not why not just tell us the full story so we can really see the bad stuff AWAI has done?

Bob Bly has credibility.

Clayton Makepeace has credibility.

You have no credibility. Zero.

Tell me, this is your most pressing issue as a copywriter?

So much so that you roused yourself up in indignation and said, "Today I'm going to make the leap and post on Michel Fortin's board."

Look, you're no dummy.

You've done your homework.

You didn't just stumble on this board today by coincidence.

Spit it out.

You're hiding behind a new log in name but you're not new.

No i'm just someone who thinks trashing competitors as a marketing tactic is lame... and don't get why you are doing it?

So what if AWAI isn't handing you a $100,000 a year job after you complete their $500 course. What do you expect?

Tina is right. I don't know the history and what's "going on" between you and them.

But if it's just the fact you're unhappy that AWAI kicked you off their boards, you felt ripped-off by their salesletter, they are selling products similar to yours...

Well i personally don't see how stuff like this warrants a whole marketing campaign about... "it's us versus the con artrists and liars... AWAI"

All i'm saying is i think creating a marketing campaign based on trashing the competition is weak. That's all.

And if it's not a marketing tactic, then can you fill us in on the really nasty stuff they have done? I want to know before i purchase something off them again? Since you've got my best interests at heart, like you said in your last email.

Oh wait... i see im not the only one who thinks you trash talking competitors is killing your reputation. There's a thread about it in "Main Discussion" i see.

And no, i'm not hiding. I don't post much on forums, to busy working. But after you emailed me with that last email trashing AWAI once more... i couldn't take it and i knew you were a mod here so i had to come tell you what i thought.

I see others, are saying the same thing that i said on the other thread.

I had another name on this forum ages ago, it was salesprint i think... i had 8 posts on that name...

And i prefer to stay anonymous. Once someone knows your name they can "enter name here" on Google... and discover your sites in 5 seconds. Prefer people not know my niches (you can understand this Harlan, you blanked out the text above to hide the name of your niche that i discovered after Googling your name)
