Default Need help with "Guarantee" on unique service - 10-04-2005, 01:30 PM

I'm writing a new sales letter for a unique service business and I'm struggling to identify an appropriate "guarantee" to include.

The business simply cleans clothes dryer vents at customer's homes. All the lint that builds up over time can become a serious fire hazard...so this company cleans all that out, from the dryer unit, through the flex hose attached on the back, into the wall and through the dryer duct to the outside dryer vent.

Now, they can't guarantee that the clothes dryer will not catch fire after the cleaning. Because a dryer could instead have an electrical malfunction that instead causes the fire, they would be leaving themselves open for too many legal problems.

Any ideas on how to structure a guarantee here? Maybe it's just not needed??

Thanks for any feedback,
Ed

How about lower electricity bills via quicker clothes drying times. A Dryer sucks up electricity and is a large part of youe electric usage.

Myabe you can limit the guarantee to the actual service itself 'everything stated will be as clean as a whistle or we will do a second cleaning free"

If you dont want to get into any legal stuff, I guess just focusing on what they do best (cleaning) suffices.

Like a cleaning service guarantee...?

To expand on what Calcbuny said - as far as I understand it, clogged vents and filters etc. reduce the drying efficiency of the machine. So that might be another benefit beyond preventing fires! i.e. saving money on electricity.

Instead of trying to put a guarantee on things they cannot control (such as the drying or energy-use efficiency of the customer's dryer, which might be an old clunker), or something that the customer can't verify (whether or not the entire length of the hose was thoroughly cleaned), how about guaranteeing that (1) they'll show up when promised or the service is free; (2) they'll remove lint & other congestion-causing material from the hose/filters, or it's free (they show the customer exactly what came out of the hoses/filters) -- or something like that?
