Holy Smokes....
Upon first glance at this forum it was instantly apparent (boy, I better check that spelling, yep it's right) that I would have to step up my game when it comes to writing.
Quite a talented bunch here I have to admit. Why did I not land on this forum sooner? I guess everything has it's time and place in life. And today, it's time for me to learn to write some KIlla Kopy......
I've always been a "Out of the Box" hip hop brainiac kid who's lingo is definitely not in step with the typical advertiser. It's been quite a challenge to drop the instinctual slang and try to appeal to the midwest housewife with a credit card. However, I can't imagine it can be that tough with a bit of study and common sense. It would of been helpful had I not cheated my way through high school, and learned some correct punctuation, spelling, and proper grammer, but o well. I don't even really know where comma's belong, but I throw em in where they look good. How am I doing?
I've been doing okay making a few bucks here and there online, however I really want to boost some conversions. Also, I have some new products that are going to be selling in the offline world for $300-$500 soon, and have quickly realized that I need to implement some serious copy techniques to get maximum benefit on my mailings.
My sales foundation was rooted straight from the gutter. Ghetto, low income, poor, whatever you want to call it, my marketing tactics consisted of whatever was available. I began slanging anything that would make me a buck since 7th grade. I learned about ROI at a very young age. Sadly, I was not investing in the most ethical things. As an adult I look back at my childhood as one crazy adventure that is usually only seen in your DVD player. However, I feel those experiences have offered me a valuable inside glimpse into a world many have never seen.
Now I have entered the world of the interenet. It's still pretty new to me, and it has me utterly mesmorized. It's amazing how quickly you can create buzz, meet new friends, and get help with just about any question you have almost instantaneously. I really do cherish the friends I have met online in the last year. It has been a wild ride, and thanks to so many gracious folks , I have made a few bucks along the way.
Hopefully I will meet some new friends here and will be able to absorb some new skills in writing copy as well. Actually I'm confident I will be able to learn some new skills. That was obvious from the first 4 or 5 posts I read. I wasn't joking when I said it looked like a talented bunch in here. That is why I decided I needed to jump in and elevate my game even if I am over my head.
While I am often quite abrassive, aggresive, and opinionated in my ramblings, I'll keep it on the mellow here. Just a word of caution in case you Google my name and find some crazy s#@!. Ya know......?
I noticed a few people that were slightly offended at Gary Halbert's style when I first came upon the forum.. O boy, if Gary got your blood boiling, please don't find my articles I posted on Go Articles yesterday.....You'll hate me....
But in this forum, I'll pack my Sunday Tongue.
Cheers,
