Hello, I need a copywriter for a outbound cold call script. I figure, the pysychology on what pulls in print should work over the phone too right? Or Im I wrong?
Im a loan officer for a mortgage company, I have a dialer with a nice catchy script I wrote myself. However, I think if a good copywriter wrote something Id get much better results. Can anyone recommend someone? Only a paragraph or two to reel them in to talk to someone live...
Just about everyone here would probably qualify. My suggestion is to do a little surfing through this forum and check out folks' websites and writing samples. Those that have done voice or who have telemarketing experience may be especially ideally suited.
So the purpose of your calls are to set appointments?
Not to rain on anyone's potential money making, but there are some excellent books on the subject.
I recommend Cold Calling Techniques that Really Work! by Stephan Schiffman. I used his techniques with great success in a former life as an inside sales rep at "The World's Largest Computer Training Company."
Newbies were expected to make well over 100 cold calls/day. My personal best was 220. Of course, once we started getting sales appointments that number dropped radically.
Just remember, it's all about focus! When you're making these sorts of calls, you must hold your intended result firmly in your mind at all times.
If you're calling just to have a conversation...you lose.
That doesn't mean you can't have some pleasant interactions, but you must drive the call. Especially if you only have 4-5 seconds to hook your prospect.
Hint #2: Have a mirror when you record the call and make sure you're smiling when you're speaking.
You make excellent points. What Im looking for is someone thats done this type of work before and that can write the script for me. Im sure the principals in copywriting would work for outgoing cold calling. I have a good appproach now but I pro could help me get much better results...just having problems finding somone that specializes in that.
