Default Does anyone have any recommendations for copywriting course? - 07-18-2005, 08:03 AM

Hi Guys,

I would like to become an expert at copywriting. Does anyone have any recommendations for courses or who to learn from? I looked at some place called AIWA (I think), and then I see all these hundreds of other courses and seminars out there also. I don't know which to choose. IF you have any advice that would be great.

Thank you

John

John, you might want to do a SEARCH on this topic, as it has been asked and answered before.

There are several great copywriting courses, and everyone has their favorites.

Michel is an excellent teacher.

You can learn a lot by reading the free letters on Gary Halbert's site. John Carlton's course is one of the best. Yanik Silver's is good. David Garfinkel, Bob Bly and others have excellent books... I could go on and on.

I've personally taken the AWAI copywriting course and thought it was excellent. It gives a wonderful foundation for the copywriting basics you'll need to know, especially if you plan to go into direct mail.

But I've also learned a lot by reading the posts in this forum & reading the newsletters and blogs of Michel, Halbert, Garfinkel, Carlton and many others.

Default Here are 3 To Get You Started... - 07-18-2005, 10:03 PM

John,

Welcome to the wonderful world of copywriting! Here are three copywriting courses that I recommend:

1. Michel Fortin's "Copy on Fire": http://www.copyonfire.com/

2. Lorrie Morgan-Ferrero's "Red Hot Copy" http://www.red-hot-copy.com/copy2.html

3. The AWAI course: http://www.awaionline.com/

Also, I would encourage you to consider membership in Michel's Copy Doctor website (http://thecopydoctor.com).

And last but not least are two great books. The first is "The Ultimate Sales Letter" by Dan Kennedy; the second is "The Copywriter's Handbook" by Bob Bly. You can find them both on Amazon or Barnes & Noble.

I took Marcia Yudkin's one-on-one 12-week course and found it invaluable. I took the course on writing web content and doing web site makeovers, but she also has a similar course on offline copywriting.

Feel free to send me an email at janet@scribeforhire.net if you have specific questions about the course. But you can find the relevant information at www.yudkin.com.

Best of luck!

Janet
