If you're looking to build up your portfolio and aren't getting many bites here, I recommend you do some pro bono work for some non-profits. I did that, and I still do often when I can, because I believe the universe has a way of evening things out (i.e. Karma, what goes around comes around, etc....and it's the right thing to do).
Even though I've been extremely busy these days, I still manage to work with a charity org every so often to help out. For a book builder (and testimonials), nothing beats it, IMHO.
Hey, we all make good money freelancing, so why not give some back every so often.
And if the "feel good" scenario doesn't strike you, you may be able to deduct fair market value on your taxes. Of course, check with your accountant, as I am NOT a tax advisor.
