So...What Does Your Home Office Look Like?
I've always wondered, for those of you lucky enough to work from home, what your home office looks like.
I'm fortunate enough, that for many years, I've been able to make a 100 foot daily "commute" from one of my master bedrooms to another master bedroom. My office sits above a 3 car garage. It's roughly 15 feet by 26 feet. Not included in the measurement is a walk-in closet and a full bath.
Here's a view looking NorthEast in my office...
The first bookcase on the left has all my important programs, clip art and backed up stuff CDs. The notebooks on the lower shelf have my Gary Halbert letters, Ted Nicholas newsletters, Antin Bros newsletters, etc. The bookshelf on the right has some computer manuals, plus 2 more shelves of notebooks with newsletters from the likes of Suarez, Abraham, etc. The TV set is usually on CNBC Monday through Friday.
The paper boxes are full of direct mail pieces, stuff I'm working on, magazines and newspaper ads. It's always a mess on that side of the desk. (I did pick up some of the stuff that usually makes it to the floor.) The dog in the pic is my Italian Greyhound. His name is Rocket... Rocky... Rock... Mr. Rocket... DumbSheyet. All my dogs are dogs adopted from rescue groups. Rocket is in his 3rd and final home. He is the dumbest dog I've ever had. If dogs went to school, he'd be on the short bus...but I still love my retarded "kid."
Here's the view looking SouthEast...
The bookshelf along the wall has marketing books, trading books, history books, design books, drawing books, etc. The walk-in closet that butts that wall also has a ton of my books...as does my basement. The bronzes you see on/in the bookcase are Frederic Remington reproductions. I've always had a thing for bronzes.
The yorkie in the picture is Keesha. She too is in her 3rd and final home. The original owner named her after Keyshawn Johnson, who was playing for the Jets then. She was beaten badly by her first owner and feared all men when we brought her in. It took awhile, but we're we're the best of buds now.
The final pic...
My desk is about 14 feet long. One monitor is missing, because I had to remove it (out of the pic) since I was going to be doing a number of scans on my MAC. If I was only going to do a couple of scans I would have just put the scanner on the floor. I have 2 PCs and a MAC (far right). A fax is on the far right next to the MAC. And I have 2 phones (on the left side of the desk). The "comfy" chair is on the left because I spend 90% of my time there.
My window looks out into the woods. Since the leaves have been coming in this past week I can barely see my neighbor's house. None of the windows in my house (except for the downstairs master bedroom) have any coverings (gee I wonder why). My family room and dining room are made up of huge/tall windows. So, in the summer, it feels like you're sitting outdoors and in the winter it feels like you're sitting in the snow. (hahaha)
I've always wanted a house without window covers / shades / curtains...after spending so many years in L.A. where you always had to have your windows covered because you lived so close to your neighbors.
